View Full Version : restored foreskin

How is a "restored" foreskin different than the foreskin of a man who was never circumcised? I'm wondering how and if the frenulum reappears after restoration and whether a restored penis produces smegma. I'm cut pretty tight -- I can pull barely any shaft skin over my glans. Can any men answer these questions? I'm especially curious to hear from men who have fully-restored foreskin that covers their entire glans when flaccid.

I can answer some of the questions:
The frenulum doesn't grow back, nor can it - the blood supply to that area was cut off during the circ, and the nerves are gone.
All penises produce smegma, but if circed, the smegma tends to rub off on clothing.
The restored foreskin will also be missing the frenar band, at the tip of the foreskin.

I saw a website where a guy did a full restoration. Took a couple of years, lots of contraptions (some looked painful) and it looked pretty funky. Not worth the effort in my opinion. You might want to do stretching to releive some of the tightness, but all the way? Forget it.

I was cut very tightly too - I can't pull any shaft skin over my glans. I looked into foreskin restoration a while ago, and can answer your questions:

- There's no frenulum in a restored foreskin, and therefore no attachment point on the underside. A restored foreskin will not always have a tendency to slip forward like a natural foreskin will. The frenulum has tons of pleasurable nerves in it - a restored foreskin doesn't have this.

- There's no frenar band in a restored foreskin. The frenar band is like a ring of elastic skin that is slightly tighter than the rest of the foreskin, and is usually right at the tip of the foreskin where it folds over when covering the glans. The frenar band helps keep the foreskin snug over the glans, helps keep it on place behind the head when retracted, and helps pull it forward to cover the glans once its over the ridge of the glans. The frenar band also has a lot of pleasurable nerves in it. Because of the lack of a frenar band, a restored foreskin tends to look 'looser' with more of a gap between the foreskin and the glans - not as snug as the natural foreskin.

- The skin of a restored foreskin tends to be thicker than a natural foreskin. This is because its mostly regrowth of shaft skin, folded over on itself. The natural foreskin has two layers: an inner foreskin and an outer foreskin. The inner foreskin is much thinner than the outer foreskin, and is also much moister.

I'm wondering how and if the frenulum reappears after restoration

No, the frenulum does not reappear after restoration. Once the frenulum is cut off during circumcision, its gone forever. Some cut guys have a portion of their frenulum left behind (I do), and can get pleasure from that, but its not going to grow or reform during restoration.

and whether a restored penis produces smegma.

Yes, a restored penis will produce noticable smegma, just like in an uncut penis. Actually, cut guys produce smegma too, its just that you never see it because its constantly rubbing off on clothing, etc. Since it has no where to accumulate, it never becomes noticeable. Once you put a layer of skin covering the glans all the time, smegma can accumulate there and will be a noticeable amount.

After considering what a restored foreskin can and can't do, and how much effort and time it takes to do a non-surgical restoration, I decided it wasn't worth it. But that's just me.

Thanks for the information, focus. It's a shame that we lack what uncut guys have and we can't get it back. It doesn't sound like restoration is a good idea for me, either, as long as my penis is doing what I need it to do. Have you heard about "ManHOOD," the fabric sheath some cut guys use to restore sensitivity to their shafts? I'm not sure I like the idea.

I cannot do this when erect either. I think my entire frenulum is missing too. What was the point of this? Why would someone want my masturbation to be a less pleasurable and more uncomfortable affair?

Thanks for providing the info on restoration. I never knew there was a frenar band, but the way you describe it makes perfect sense. I've seen videos of uncut men and the way the foreskin completely covers the head and fully retracts down the shart on every stroke is amazing. If only I was left uncut...

I've done a little research into "tugger" devices designed to restore foreskin. Do you think such a device would work for guys like us? All I might want is some more "give" in my shaft skin for masturbation where some skin can stimulate the glans. If this was done, how would the extra skin affect vaginal sex?

I never realized until recently that one of my masturbation techniques simulated a foreskin. I would masturbate with an old shirt between my hand and shaft. The shirt would rub the glans as I stroked. As an added bonus, the shirt is handy to clean up when I'm done. Needless to say, there are some shirts in my drawer I never wear anymore, lol.

How does my penis produce smegma too? Do I have noticeable glands that make it?

Yes, I've heard of the Man Hood sheath. I don't think it does much though. While it can help protect the glans from rubbing against clothing, etc., it doesn't do much for keeping the glans moist, which is one of the most important things necessary for a sensitive glans, and one of the most important roles the foreskin has.

Sure, a tugger device will work for lengthening your shaft skin, and will do a lot for foreskin restoration too if you want to take it that far. It all comes down to how much time and effort you want to put into it. If you don't have enough skin to place on the tugger device though, you may need to start with more conventional restoring methods such as the T-tape or silicone ring methods, and then switch to the tugger when you have enough skin.

I would think having extra shaft skin could only make sex more enjoyable by creating less friction. Certainly couldn't hurt.

How does my penis produce smegma too? Do I have noticeable glands that make it?

Smegma is mostly produced by the glans (head) of the penis, and the inner foreskin. Smegma consists of dead skin cells from the glans and inner foreskin that constantly slough off, mixed with oils and sweat from the glans and foreskin, and drops of urine and semen. Although the glans is now exposed in circumcised guys, it still sloughs off dead skin cells, and the skin cells still produce oils and sweat. These are the ingredients for smegma. All these ingredients typically end up in your underpants where the glans touches. And since it has no place to build up, you never see it, although it is there (at least the components are anyway). You also have a portion of your inner foreskin left too - its the different colored skin (more reddish) between your circumcision scar and the ridge of your glans (Corona).
