I was wondering if any of you experience an almost instantaneous reaction to sodium chloride?

Eating food that contains salt, even in small amounts, results in fluid retention. I've had to stop eating breakfast cereal for this reason. (One serving contains 16% of RDA of sodium). Whenever I eat food with quite a bit of salt in it, even in tiny amounts, like a slice of sausage or ham, I react to that as well. Needless to say, I try to avoid these types of products. Within minutes of consuming such food, my legs start to itch, followed by the fluid settling in the tissue.
Is this super sensitivity to sodium normal? I know our bodies need a certain amount of sodium daily. It seems like I can't tolerate any.

thank you,
flowergirl
