View Full Version : Ovarian Removal

I am scheduled to have ovaries and tubes removed end of March. I had a hysterectomy about 18 years ago. The Dr tells me it is common to have inflamed, plugged tubes some time in later years after the original surgery. He is doing an exploratory first but feels they will probably need to be removed. I have been on the surgical waiting list for close to a year now and have had off and on pain for that time. I am wondering about hormones and alternative methods. Currently I take evening primrose oil for hot flashes which I've been having for about three years. I am 48. I don't think I have any other symptoms of menopause but don't really know what to look for. Any input from others experiences would be helpful-what to expect after surgery and what to look for and do for menopause symptoms. Thanks!

One thing I think you should keep your eye on is your thyroid hormones. Thyroid can get messed up around menopause and I had a major problem when I had my ovaries out. Symptoms are fatigue, confusion, achy muscles and joints, and the list goes on. Keep on the primrose oil and hopefully all will be O.K. Thyroid board here really helpful and also Mary Shomans thyroid site on about.com for thyroid and menopause.
