Well it's here. I swear I wasn't going to do root canal or menapause !!. But a trip to the Doctor proved otherwise. Turned 47 Oct. 2000 that was the last period. No even a hint of one. Hormone test was 63 out of a basic range of 23 to 110. I get some hot spells at night, only 2 "hot flashes" very uncomfortable and scary. Question: I get nausea about 2 - 3 times a day. Whats up with that? some times I feel a little bloated and abdomen feels sensative like period feeling. is that normal for menapause. I lost my mom at only 47 years old to breast cancer, so Dr. says I'm not likely a candidate for HRT. I do take calcium, drink soy every other day or so and take vitamins. I'm in pretty good health overall. Had my baseline at 30 yrs. just to be on the safe side and always check and get mamograms. I am taking celexa and termazepan (sleeping pil) b/c I had 2 miscarriages, breast operation and a family tragedy in 1996, really bad year. Anyway, I know it's not that mediction causing nausea. Anyone else get this. Don't have a mentor for this.
thanks. Mag

Hi,

I have had nausea problems off and on for several years. Most of the time for me it is caused by anxiety which in turn I think is often caused by some of the perimenopause symptoms that I get. Whenever anything new pops up or stays around for a long time I begin to wonder if I have some disease but usually it is just another symptom of menopause.

I sometimes get the nausea several times a day or sometimes it just stays for days or weeks. I use ginger tea quite often to settle the stomach and if it gets really bad and is not caused by anxiety I take a gravol at bedtime and it is usually gone by the morning. If it is anxiety related I sometimes take Ativan (lorazepan) which is probably similar to the termazapan but luckily I don't have to take that very often.

I certainly know how you feel as nausea is not a pleasant symptom and I hate it whenever it comes back. It sounds like you are getting it around the time you would normally get a period even though you aren't having them anymore. I get the bloated, crampy and nauseous feeling the week that I am off the pill and supposed to get my period but I usually get only a slight spotting or nothing at all.

I don't know if any of this helps but at least you know that you are not alone. Take care and hope it gets better for you.

Hi, Toronto. Thanks for the reply, Yes I have some anxiety. And like you, most of my life, i would get nausea when stressed, I could time it 20 minutes later and I'd be queezy. You may have touched on somthing here and maybe I'm just more anxious now, No, I know I'm more anxious after finding out I'm Manapausal. Thanks, the more I think about it, This menpause thing is constantly on my mind, It just happened over night, not ready for it. so I'm overwelmed and anxiousness creates the queezies. Thanks a lot, Sure feels good knowing I'm not alone......... Mag.

I am a 45 year old women and I'm not sure I am in menopause or starting it? I haven't had a period in 3 months, but I have nausea quite often and without warning. I keep crackers around. The irritability is one of the worst symptoms I have. I also have severe breast tenderness. They hurt and itch alot. Every month I feel like I'm going to start my period and then I don't, can anyone give me some advice on what to do? Should I go to the Doctor or wait awhile? thanks.
