I was having night hot flashes regularly until I added Remifemin to the soy supplements I was taking. I was wondering if progesterone cream is also a necessary element in the whole picture.

People with thyroid problems have to watch their soy intake. I don't know anything about Remifemin (what is it?) From what I've been reading on some of the groups about progesterone, the women there seem to think there is not much scientific basis to assume it does anything. They feel the pushers of this progesterone idea are making tons of money for some hype. I tried it for a while and seemed to feel better for about a month or so and then the flashes came back with a vengence. Even worse than before. Read lots of stories like that. Had my thyroid fixed up and that helped lots so now just take the evening primrose oil. I'm at the end of all this tho. Most of the women on the other groups are going it natural. Change of diet, layer your clothing, and use fans.

Remifemin is the trade name of a natural herb called black cohosh and is the main ingredient in all the female concoctions that are on the market today. Did anyone watch Oprah yesterday and her show on menopause? I am not concerned so much about hot flashes etc. If that is what my body is supposed to be doing, then fine. However, I do not want to put my body at risk for things such as heart disease, osteoporosis, etc. Bottom line, I guess, is healthy living, calcium supplements, and multivitamins. Common sense, huh?
