I got the the letter from the judge today, fully favorable, finally after almost 4 years I am out of limbo and will finally be able to pay off some debts and have enough in savings to have a buffer against the still difficult economy. Not to mention no more lawyers, no more hearings. It's a relief that those of you that have been down this road know.
Now for some questions.I want to have direct deposit, do I wait for them to contact me or should I call them to give the information? I am only getting a certain amount a month, and I think it meets the guidelines to have my Medicare, part A I think, waived, how do I go about doing that? I know I've long passed the 2 year waiting list. Anything else I should know? Thanks!

Congratulations Alexa
Almost 4 years for you, wow!!
Direct Deposit is wonderful. You may call your local social security office or call the 1-800 number to set this up. During this call you can also speak about the medicare.
Happy to hear Good news !!!!!!

Alexa3, congratulations! Paying off bills can be such a relief.
(replying to something you had on a different thread) My bank number had changed from when I applied. When I first received SSDI the bank tried to send my check back to SSA, because it had the wrong number, though they could plainly see online it had my name. This would have created another several week delay for SSA to issue another check and I was in a panic. The bank finally got it straightened out after several calls.
I recommend going to the bank and talking to someone face to face about the situation, and also calling SSA and letting them know, otherwise it will very likely cause a long delay. SSA should have everyone who files for disability in their records, regardless of whether they have been approved or not. The bank and SSA need to have the new account number.

Congradultions on your approval :) Yes, you ocan set it up with social security to have direct deposit. It takes a month or two for that to get started . If you want it to go faster to drive down to your local S.S office and talk to them , show them your approval letter, and tell them that is what you what you want to do, and you will need your banking information with you too.
Medicare will mail you information , they will take care of that for you, and you ought to recieve a medicare card in the mail too. YEs, you are correct, since you had to wait 4yrs, this will automatically qualify you for medicare. Depending on your income, either medicare will choose your prescription drug coverage for you, or tell you to choose one, or let you know what your options are . And all that good stuff . Or if your going to have any Medicare premiums to have to worry about .
For example .I did not have any . Medicare pays for all mine, and Medicare pays for my prescriptions, however, I also have medi cal, I think I have a small co-pay , however, do not have to worry about it. Medicare chose my coverage for me. I was lucky enough. I am not married, and a single parent, fell into a certain income bracket .
