Hi,
Ive been trying (unsuccessfuly) to find some info on whats going on with this one hair on my head. It grows above my left ear about 4cm in from my hairline and is thicker, darker and faster growing than the rest of my hair.
I have naturally strawberry blond-ish hair, the fatter hair is darkbrown, almost black and not as round as the other hairs but is still straight. its about 4 times fatter than my other hairs!
It grows so much faster than the rest - I only ever find it while running my hand through my hair, or tying up my hair, and feeling a hair longer than the rest. I pull it out when I find it and its always back, longer than the rest in a few months (my hair is about 15 cm past my shoulders at the moment so its very fast growing to get longer than the rest!)- last time I saw it was in march, so its now been 4 months. Its always the same hair because I feel that its the same place whenever I pull it out.
What could be causing this? Im thinking its some kind of mutant evil hair cell thats decided it doesnt want to be like everyone else and started making fat hairs instead ;) maybe I should stop pulling it out and see how freakishly long it gets haha
Its really fascinating when I find it, and as weird as it is (lol) my partner and I have tied things to it to see how much it can hold before it breaks, comparing it to a normal hair and the difference is massive!
thanks in advance if anyone has any ideas!

Wow, i have one mutant hair too!! I have dark brown hair and it's long too. I'm not sure how long ago i noticed this particular hair, but it's been there for about 5 years at least. Mine is sooo much thicker than all the rest of the hairs, to the point it feels almost "plastic". I've not tried pulling it out, but even though all my other hair sheds regularly, this particular hair doesn't shed ever. It's like 5 hairs simply grew together out of the one follicle and melted together. It's so shiny and 'fat'. Mine isn't at the front, but on the left side of my head, sort of in the middle.
I showed it to a hairdresser and she had never seen anything like that. Sorry i couldn't be of help, but it's good to know i'm not the only one with one odd hair :)
