Depending on your insurance, your regular doctor may need to referr you to a neurologist.
If you don't need a referral call a neurologist to schedule appointment,

::mad: I can no longer cope with the constant pain in my shoulder neck & head due to an injury some yrs ago. It causes me much depression, fatigue & irritability. my Drs say the waiting list for MRI is so long it takes yrs, how can i get one private? Will i need a referal? :confused:

Sheila call your insurance company and ask if you would need a referral to a neurologist ? Your insurance may give you a name of a neurologist that is in your network.
I have never heard of waiting years for MRi .
Since you are in so much pain, you may need to go to the emergency room hospital, they will order you a MRi.
