Hi, Sorry to be so personal, but can anyone identify with painful intercourse when not being on hormones and past menopause. This has to a common phenominon, but what is the best thing to do for this problem? Please excuse the indelicacy of the subject.

From what I've read on other boards there are estrogen rings for the vagina that help. Also lubircants like KY jelly.

Hi Joy,
I think that the best thing to do is get an accurate diagnosis. This same symptom can have different causes requiring different treatments. I hope you have or can find a caring and knowledgeable physician, gynecologist or osteopath.
An often missed diagnosis is levator syndrome caused by internal muscles of the pelvic floor.
best wishes,

Thank you for your reply [everyone]. The gyno says 'You need Hormone Replacement Therapy' which is his answer to everything. I will try KY Jelly. This is a new relationship and I'm off all hormones so I'm just searching. Thank you for replying to such a delicate matter.

There is a whole new generation of lubricants way beyond KY jelly and glycerine based products.
Names like Liquid Silk, Bodyglide, Maximus, Wet Platinum, etc.
I would encourage you to do a web search to learn your options.
My favorite is Liquid Silk. :)

LOL
Shows how long it's been for me. KY jelly was the last I knew about. Try being single, going through surgical menopause and having your thyroid go bonky all at the same time. Not a recipe for wanting sex. but sooommeee day.
