Iam 44 and have been postmeno. since age 35. I tried the HRT and was so sick, gained wieght, the worst head ackes, mood swing that made people afraid of me, it was awful. I do not tack anything, and I look and feel great. But , I do not have a family history of heart disease, or osteoporosis. I do not smoke, and I have med. bone structure. I lift wieghts, very heavy weights, exercise, have a good diet, and stress free life style. These are all things that need to be taken into concideration when deciding on treatment. Do you have breast cancer in your family? I do not, so I could take the HRP and not worry about added risk from long term use. I hope this was helpful. Oh and I look great! Loke I am 35.

Hi, Iam 44 and have been post meno since I was 35. I do not take anything. The HRT made me so sick, and the risk did not appeal to me. I work out with heavy weights, exercise, have a good diet, and try to remain stress free, ha, ha. I do not smoke, have a med bone structure, and do not have history of osteoporosis, or heart disease. I did not feel comfortable with the added risk of breast cancer with long term use HRT. I hpoe this was of help to you.

My doctor is a firm believer in HRT. Perhaps your doctor needs to try you out on various ones to see which works the best for you. HRT helps the system function much better, reduces depression and improves the quality of your skin. I realize there's lots to consider and the factors of strokes and cancer have to be determined. Good luck to you.

Be careful with HRT, remember if you have a uterus to take some form of natural progesterone, not synthetic if you can, to counteract the estrogen from building up the lining of the uterus causing cancer. The natural form of progesterone has less side effects and is more like the natural progesterone our own ovaries make. The synthetic made me deathly sick...till i tried the natural progesterone cream. It worked wonders for me..and it helped my skin glow. Estrogen causes cancer in the uterus and breasts when taken by itself.

Personally I feel HRT is just another way for chemical companies through Dr.s to push thier chemicals on us and make money. If you are not experiencing awful symptoms then don't worry about it. There's natural things you can do as mentioned in the other posts. I had awful side effects when I tried it. I don't know about the looking younger part. I think that has a lot to do with skin care, heredity, lifestyle etc.
Even for those with awful symptoms there's more natural things to do.
