My son just turned a year old a few days ago. He has a 4mm stone in his right kidney, which happens to be his only kidney as he was only born with one. We found out about the stone when he was about 4 months old and he has been to specialists and had a uretal stent put it and is now awaiting lithotripsy on August 31st. His nephrologist said that it looked like the stone was shrinking, so that was some good news. But, I just am worried now because of the lithotripsy. I have heard from adults that it is very painful and makes them sore. Does anyone know how it is for babies?? I am scared because I dont want my son to go through a lot of pain, he has already had it rough enough thoughout his first year! If anyone can give me any input I'd really appreciate it!
