Hi all,
Here's a bit of my situation....I have a lot of medical problems and have to go to the doctor a lot. I am on social security disability and medicare is my primary insurance with medicaid being secondary (only after I meet my deductible for the month, which is outrageous.) I was born with cerebral palsy and have a host of other medical conditions. I was receiving SSI payments until my dad got social security himself when he was eligible a few years ago. I now receive payments through his record. I have some mental health issues and have been in an intensive treatment program since having a deductible. Now, I am ready to move on from their program and they are telling me that the only way to meet my deductible is by going to a program during the day. I have been told briefly what counts towards it and how to record it (They have taken care of it up to this point.) I am getting bills that should not be my responsibility because by the time I meet it, it takes the DHS person forever to activate it for that month. It is getting tiring fighting for my medicaid. I am on a limited income and can't afford to keep paying things that medicaid should cover. Could someone give me an idea of what counts towards a deductible for medicaid and what doesn't? Thanks. (I am in Michigan if that helps.)

It seems to me that the people who are billing you for services ought to be taking care of these things. Every state is different I know. In Florida I had a spend down of over $600/mos that I never did meet.

I wonder if in all the services you're getting it's possible to find yourself a social worker who can help coordinate these things?
