Hello all,

When I applied for SSD. I was only sent to one of there Mental Health Dr's.
Shouldn't they of sent me to a spine specialist as well?

I applied for multi reasons as I listed every thing that was wrong with me.
I do have depression, PTSD, anxiety, heart problems and a whole lot of spine issues.

One more month to my hearing date :)

I was just wondering why they only set up the mental health.
Which by the way he wrote all sorts of things that were incorrect in his notes to SS. My attorney said that happens all the time.

Thanks, Cindy

happygirl, my suggestion is to find your own doctors who have your interests in mind. SS employees and doctors want to prove you don't deserve benefits, that's why it's so hard to get them. You need doctors on your side.

they did the same to me - after i broke my back in a car accident - i thought it very strange.. its just normal procedure.. i think its scare tactics - to make people feel like that you must be crazy to apply for disablity.. its really dumb- but the truth be known, you cant get disablity without a lawyer... but why would you - i was going to go that route it till my father talked some common sense into me- the amount of money you get wont help you - you cant live on it - not even in a trailer. if you work some they will cut it from you. its just a life most wouldnt find acceptable.. perhaps if you lived with a relative it might help little more - but hey that really sucks and drains releations.. its really not an answer - i would tell any young people the most important insurance you should ever get is disablity insurance. or you will just need to compensate and make it some how - good luck .......

Hi Cindy,
First of all I totally disagree with the last poster :( That was not nice of him to have wrote those things to you .Anyway it was just his opinion and his own personal experiences though.
I believe the reason why Social Security sent you to their own Mental Health Dr. was to have you more full evaluated . Sometimes , when Social Security asks for your Mental Health Dr.'s reports on you it is not as much information as they need . Therefore that is why they sent you to one of their Dr's. It is common for them to do this. the reason why Social Security did not sent u to to any other one of their Dr's is because they probably had enough information provided by your Dr's reports and did not need to do that .
Do your Dr's support your claim of disability? It is important to have the Dr.s who are treating you support your claim . Because they are the ones who fill out the forms for Social Security , and based on what they write, and when it goes to DDS, Disability Determination Services , those are the people who look at the claim and decide if it ought to go further, if it goes further , their DR's review the claim , and make a decision , either approve or deny . A claim of disability has to be severe enough under Social Security rules for them to even consider approving . Most of the time for that to even happen anymore the person , typically is having multiple health problems . Physical as well as mental health issues. This is what I found out to be true .However, the physical health can be severe enough to cause major problems, cancer, kidney failure , heart issues, ect.
It is in your favor to go to their appointments , that is what I always think. They will do that too, if the person is not seeing a psych Dr, or therapist on a regular basis either.

I am extremely nice - i think you might confuse that with sensative - i am but sometimes it doesnt help a person to sugar coat things - sometiems women have a tendency to do to much - especially mothers - well that is their job to try to protect. but the truth - sometimes the truth and real information is what a person needs - i am providing theory based on my real experience - i ve been there - i think its worth someone else to listen to my experience to findings or someone else with experience. that is why they posed the question here - it was not to be mean - it was to demonstrate a logic to what the process is and then ask if the proces is worth all that effort. - i hope the original poster - will atleast ask those questions to themself before putting themself through the process only to be let down by it - and further would consider enlisting a lawyer in the process - there are lawyers that specialize in this for a reason.....

Mscat..thank you for your reply and explanation, that is what I was looking for.

I do have back, heart and spine Dr's that support me.
My second shrink supports me as well where as the first one did not.

pitcherred...you did not answer my question and your post really was not directed to my needs at all but thanks for reading it

Cindy
