My question is this: Is the envelope manilla/gold/brownish for BOTH Approvals and Denials from the ALJ Hearing for SSDI? I have read that the approvals come in the colored envelopes but I'm wondering if the denials come in the same color envelope. If anyone knows, please reply! Thanks in advance!

My approval came in a white envelope just like a letter

Well....... I think I would open the envelope, and see! :)

So far, all letters from Social Security have been in white envelopes. I am waiting for the letter from the ALJ Hearing, so it will be interesting to see if it is in a different color envelope.

Mine was in a white plain envelope. It was pretty thick though...Full of papers explaining everything.

Gayle, when was your ALJ hearing? Mine was on June 4th.

Thanks, Jay! I've been telling my 14-year-old daughter to be on the lookout for a yellow envelope so I better change that! LOL

Thanks, Ex! I'm glad to hear this because I would've been thinking that it was a denial, if it came in a white envelope, and then wouldn't want to open it.

My hearing was June 24 - just a few weeks apart. :)

I'm waiting on a decision, and I get nervous every day when getting my mail. I just wish it was done and over with.

Everything I have gotten over the past 4 years has been in a white envelope, even the fully approved one, it was thick, but I imagine the denial ones are too. They have to explain how they came to their conclusions so it takes several pages to go through each process.

They are white . And have The Social Security Andinistration on the top left corner on them. The approval ones come from Baltimore, Maryland. That is where the the Office of Central Operations is located, and all the approval claims are processed :) At least in the State of CA. I am unsure if it is for all the States , however it is for CA.

I hear ya! :D I hold my breath every day, when I hear the mail truck coming. In reality, I don't expect the letter for a few more months, but when I hear that mail truck .... :round:
