With Thin Basement Membrane Disease, does the hematuria occur from birth, or does it begin to occur later in life?
I've had blood in my urine since about the age of 12. Doctors are just writing it off as a benign condition, but since it did not occur in early childhood I was wondering if IgA nephropathy was possible. I have microscopic hematuria present at all time, and sometimes have bouts of visible blood (especially during/after illnesses). I also have many other symptoms that seem to coincide with IgAN but could also be many other things. It's a pretty impossible disease to pinpoint without a biopsy (which most doctors do not even consider unless there is severe kidney damage) but I was just wondering if anyone else has it, and what their experiences with it are like.
Thanks!

hi. m havin hematuria with mild proteinuria following infections and even long after following mucosal infections since age 12(nw i am 22)(symptoms suggestin Iga nephropathy), gt renal biopsy done at 14 sayin it as minimal change disease which doctors say is unlikely at my present age(clinically), m on antihypertensive drugs fr reducin proteinuria bt docs say it's unlikely that the disease will progress. At last, i dnt knw what it is..
