Hello,

I was recent told I'm exposed to Herpes Type 1, but I've never had any cold sore, blister, or bumps. The only symptoms I have is there is kinda itchy on my thighs sometimes but still no blisters, bumps or soever. I remember I had bumps like chicken pox on my toes and fingers (only 1 time). I was trying to see the doctor again to ask questions, but then he went out of town for a while!

Anyway,
Today, I went to see another doctor for questions and blood test. This doctor is about 57-62 years old, and he said that just don't worry about it because there is 80% of people including himself (type 2) in the US has it. There is no harm to our systems beside having blisters, cold sore he said. Then we moved on. This is what surprised me - he said just use condoms when you have a lesion to be safe. Other than that, you don't need condoms when there is no lesion. It's possible that your partner may be contracted with the virus, but it is very rare he said... So basically, he said just don't worry about it, just watch out when you have a lesion.... use condoms when you have lesion... I'm not sure whether if I should trust him on this because I've read alot about Herpes online and it seems to scare me... What's going on, can anyone help me on this? Thanks a lot

There is no such thing as "exposed". You either are infected or you are not. Doctors use the term to mean that you HAVE it but perhaps you are not showing symptoms of it. But you have it if the blood test was postivie by a reasonable number.

"Anyway, Today, I went to see another doctor for questions and blood test. This doctor is about 57-62 years old, and he said that just don't worry about it because there is 80% of people including himself (type 2) in the US has it."

It is estimated that up to 80% of the population in the US has type 1 - oral cold sore herpes. It is estimated that 1 in 5 men (20%) and 1 in 4 women (25%) have type 2 - genital herpes.

"You don't need condoms when there is no lesion. It's possible that your partner may be contracted with the virus, but it is very rare he said"

Wrong. Not so rare. Just about all of us on this board got it from someone who did not know they had it. The virus can be spread from an infected partner to an uninfected partner EVEN WHEN THERE ARE NO OBVIOUS SYMPTOMS OF AN OUTBREAK. Look up "asymptomatic shedding" and the "herpes handbook". It's all there and free to down load

Out break of symptoms would really depend on your immunity. A weak body immediately shows the symptoms like cold sores. Once infected you could still transfer the virus even if you are a symptomatic. Always use a condom now.
You must improve your diet and take supplements to keep yourself healthy check out Biogetica products great safe and natural products to keep you off symptoms and staying healthy. I have experienced good relief with them.

I totally agree with seekingtruth, symptoms or Not you can pass it, like she said that is how the majority of people contract it, having sex with someone who doesn;t even know they have it.... I am not saying your doctor is not a good doctor but some medical professionals don't take Herpes seriously enough and maybe just like us don't have all the answers. Be safe and take care.
