My girlfriend has been put on zoloft but she has a heart condition and she is having an irregular heartbeat since she started taking them. Are these safe for someone with a heart condition?

most drugs are not safe... personally i feel ssi are very dangerous - as almost died from a life threatening tachycardia from paxil. considering i dont have a heart condition i was very uncomfortable and scared for about 30 hours.. thank god i discontinued the meds before hearing back from my dr.. - anyhow i would think if your gf has a similar event - it could kill her- i think one must way the benefit vs the risk with all drugs.....

I think this point needs to be serious considered because i think ssri's are way over prescribed as happy pill and cure all... so my guess she doesnt even really need this - and with consideration of her heart - i think her dr is not very prudent.

I was on 100mg of Zoloft (actually, it was the generic sertraline) for approx 1 year for depr and anxiety. I have hypertension problems and have been taking Toprol for that.

My doc prescribed both of these to me so they seem to be "safe" to me (at least, I never had any problems)!

Good luck,
