I'm new here & really need some input. Here are my symptoms. Occassional dizzyness, mood swings, nervouseness, anxiousness, tired ALL the time. I have gained approx 50 lbs in the last 1-1/2 years and am almost 47. This past Wed., I woke up w/ Vertigo. My dr gave me meds for headaches & dizzyness. I can NOT get warm when I go to bed a nite, then end up throwing ALL the covers off due to sweating. I also seem to have "minor memory loss" and a sense of NOT being able to concentrate on just about anything. I had an MRI on Fri., and my reg Dr. has referred me to a neurologist. He "elluded" to the fact that "getting old" ~could~ be part of what was going on. (the notes from the MRI that he received were very vague) I am considering seeing if my GYN can see me & ask his oppinion. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?? All help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Have they checked your thyroid levels? This should be the first place they start. Once they check your thyroid levels then move on to the next step. Have your doctor test your hormone levels. No need to see they GYN unless that who you prefer to see. Your regular doc can run these tests.

Yes, I have been taking Synthroid for 5 or more years. I had new blood work drawn on Friday & he said my current dosage was fine.

Hi..you sound like me..I am 45 and almost nuts!!!! I started this peri-menopause about 1 1/2 years ago..I never had irregular periods, no PMS, zi,p UNTIL this past year and half..Long story short..Christmas time was the worst, I had hot flashes , mostly at night for 6 weeks straight,and didn't have any again for about 6 months(weird) now they are back..So, this past Jan, doc put me on HRT(off now, I was on Premarin, all month and progestrone first 12 days of month, because I still get my period, I don't understand that)but went off, the progestrone made me really bad... INSIST on a FSH test, they'll say your to young, blah, blah..Mine was 65.6 the range for POST menopause is 23.0-116.3..Thats' what I don't understand...I still have my period, but it's like every 2 months now or when ever it feels like it..So, for the past 4-5 days, I'm getting wacky again, more anxiety, almost panic attack(good thing I have xanex) and I feel like I don't want to see any body besides my husband and my dog< which might not be a bad thing hehehe I think you need a FSH test and I'm not a doctor..BTW, I found out I had hypothyroidism about 9 months ago too..Weird how it all came around the same time..I was normal once ????? Write back if you want DEB :)
