I am 36 years old. I had a partial hysterctomy at 26 years. I still have my ovaries. I have been experiencing night sweats for approx. 2 years now off & on. I have also experienced many "weird symptoms", such as leg muscle aches, hair loss, insomnia, extreme fatigue, depression and extreme anxiety. I have not experienced hot flashes (I'm assuming that's what they are)until just recent and they are very brief and not every day, usually in the mornings. Obviously I don't have monthly cycles so I can't use that as a gage. I have been to two ob/gyn's and my family doctor. One ob/gyn and my family doctor say yes, menapause, one ob/gyn says no. My hormone levels are boardline low. I took Premarin for approx. 1 year and the symptoms subsided. I took myself off after visiting my last ob/gyn and after several months, the symptoms have progressed. I feel I am too young to be experiencing these symptoms (since I was 33 years old). Is this truly perimenapause? Has anyone else experienced similiar symptoms at such a young age? I know this is lengthy so thanks to anyone that reads this and gives me their input.

My advice, for what its worth would be to find someone sympathetic. Blood hormone levels are tricky and one off levels don't tell the whole story. If I were you I'd go with what your body is telling you and treat it accordingly - that means find a doctor or specialist that is willing to do the same. We don't (and doctors don't) know everythng. The proof of the pudding is in the ating as they say and the best thing is to treat you for what it appears to be and then see what happens.
When I went off the pill and had my tubes done, my hormones went up the creek so to speak (and I still have my ovaries). I have a good gyno who put me on testosterone treatment for my libido and it was great.
Good luck!

Read some of the postings about progesterone cream. You'll find some great information there! :) Beth Ann

I'm right there with you! Only I'm 44 and had a partial hysterectomy at 33. For years I've been suffering with these and other bothersome symptoms, not realizing I could have been peri-menopausal. I'm reading "What your Doctor May Not tell You About Premenopause", by John R. Lee, M.D. It is very informative and I urge anyone going through this, to read it. I still have so many questions about my past illnesses as to whether or not I should attribute them to peri-menopause.......I am most worried right now about the hairloss. How bad is your's falling out? My doctor doesn't seem to have a clue!! Why would he have never considered this? Right now I'm also experiencing stomach problems...the fun never ends. ALSO, I'm very upset that the OB/GYN that did my hysterectomy didn't tell me all of this could happen early as a result of the surgery. :( Best wishes to you.
