I'm 52, post mentapausal and have quit taking Primpro and now taking Evista for two weeks. The hot flashes have increased mucho. Just curious if anyone has any comments or suggestions that would be helpful.

Desparate for solutions!

About 60% of all women taking Evista experience hot flashes. It is a side effect of the drug, unlike that of other traditional HR therapies. Have you considered using an estrogen patch or vaginal cream?? There are also other alternatives for progestin. Talk to you healthcare provider. Evista is one drug I would avoid due to the hot flash side effect. Ally

My Mum is on Evista. I was under the impression it is given to older women (Mum is 82) becuase it is not like HRT and doesn't give the sideffects that HRT can. So if you ARE menopausal I wouldn't have thought that Evista would be the drug of choice. I wouldn't expect it to relieve menopausal symptoms.

evista is not about relieving the symptoms of menopause..it is used to stop bone loss in post menopausal women..i have been on it since may...i dont like taking any drugs...but i have osteopenia and fear fractures as i get older if i do nothing..my hot flashes are usually at bedtiime..but very mild ...so i consider the potential benefits outweigh the risks at this time....

You need to get Dr. Lee's book and also the progesterone cream. Read some of the postings that refer to the cream. It really worked for me. After 2 weeks, I no longer had night sweats or hot flashes during the day. It's wonderful. Try it!! Good luck!
