Hello,
Can anyone tell me if they had problems resuming a normal sex life after having sudden menopause via hysterectomy? I am having problems getting back to normal because of pain. I think the vaginal area is just tight from lack of use, but even KY jelly did not help much. Thanks, Sam

Symptoms of Vaginal Atrophy
After menopause, your labia and vulva may become drier, and the skin of your genitals may feel less firm or elastic. You may have
trouble achieving adequate lubrication during sex. Many women will notice vaginal dryness or irritation even before menopause, many
years before other symptoms appear. In time, you may also notice that your vagina seems shorter. Sexual intercourse may feel
uncomfortable, or it may hurt because of the stretching of the delicate tissues inside. The walls of your vagina may become irritated,
cracked and prone to infection, because they are thinner than they used to be.
Urinary symptoms are also commonly found in women diagnosed with vaginal atrophy. As your urinary tissues become thinner and
less elastic, you may notice small amounts of urine leaking during sex, coughing, exercise, sneezing or other activities (stress
incontinence). You may also be more prone to urinary tract infections, as well as vaginal infections. The following urinary symptoms are
associated with vaginal atrophy:
Irritation or pain with urination
Blood in urine (may come from vagina)
Urinary frequency
Frequent urinary tract infections
Stress incontinence
If you're already experiencing many of the genital symptoms listed below, remember—there are treatments available that can help.
Genital symptoms
Genital dryness
Vaginal itching
Vaginal burning
Vaginal discharge
Painful sexual intercourse
Light bleeding after intercourse
Intense vulvar itching
Feeling of pressure

KY is not the best lubricant for sex. Why not pick up one of the newer ones that work better such as astroglide or any of the other ones. Also talk to your doctor about all of this as he may recommend HRT to help with some of your symptoms.

KY doesn't help after Menopause atleast for me it doesn't. My doctor said he could prescribe some hormonal creams, but you can't use those for more than a few months. He suggested to check out the health &
vitamin stores. They may have something soy based that can be used to build up the thinning skin.
I thought I was getting through menopause fine, but no one told me sex would be problem. I didn't know that the lack of hormones thins out your vagina. I thought the vagina was just like any other organ.
Not being able to have children is one thing, but not being able to have intercourse is another.

i have treatment induced menopause at 30 yrs. taking HRT because symptoms unbearable!! sex was absolutely impossible - dry like a desert - very painful. KY no good. Still have a lot of trouble with dryness being on the HRT. Don't know what else to do. If I stop HRT hot flashes, dry skin with breakouts, trouble sleeping, and dryness. Tried natural HRT, absolutely no improvement.
