I provide a very detailed analysis of my hearing in this thread, "Not sure how to feel."

The biggest mistake people make is emphasizing their "condition" rather than what prevents them from working. It's not necessarily the condition that makes one disabled, but rather the effects of it. I give a couple of examples in this thread and discuss the concept, "Offered a job, but my hearing is less than a month away."

Best of luck to you.

I agree that you have to emphasize how your condition keeps you from working, not just "I have X Y Z".

Try to relax (hard, I know) and just tell the truth. Keep your answers short and to the point.

Good luck, and be sure to let us know how it goes.

Gayle.

Be yourself, no need to act any other way. The truth is on your side. Good luck, I know it's hard sitting in front of a judge, makes you feel like you are on trial.

I have been told by my lawyer, just be your self tell the judge how your "issues" effect you everyday short and too the point. I was also told to bring all my med's with me.

good luck

Thanks to all,
I am starting to feel so anxious. My hearing is next week.
Would it look bad if I took in a piece of paper in with me with what I want to get accross...you know so I don't forget anything?

I don't think there would be anything wrong with this at all. Not sure if you read the other thread that I posted where I went into detail about my hearing.....Most of the talking you'll do is answering questions from the Judge. There's not really any time where one is asked to give a long statement.

As the others have stated, if you just answer the questions honestly and speak from the heart, things will work out. The most important part of the hearing is describing how one's condition prevents you from working. And, if the meds you take cause issues for you, or the side effects do, be sure to cite them as well. This can often be as important, if not more so, than the condition itself. For example, with my CP, I take a fair amt of pain meds, and the med's side effects cause as many problems for me as my pain. Not only can't I drive when I take my meds, but I have trouble concentrating, get very drowsy, and often have to lie down.

Best of luck at your hearing.
