I just don't like my face breaking out like it is...this is why I think I'm changing http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/confused.gif

Hi, Doe ! :D

Well, no one can tell if you are in peri menopause unless you get an FSH test (and they take additional hormone tests, too).

I was 38 and began to see things happening. The opposite happened to me. I stopped getting acne pimples ! I was never full of them, but I could always tell my period was around the corner when I'd get a pimple. Suddenly, that stopped.

I had very minor, infrequent, light hot "blushes" more than "flashes", skipping periods too. The Worst thing (which eventually made me run to a gynecologist) was intermittant nauseau around my period and , really, whenever. When I had one period which was so painful with cramps, I went to one gynecologist who refused to test me for peri-menopause. Nine months later, I had the heaviest and worst bout of nausea and flew to a different gynecologist who tested me for EVERYTHING and I had entered peri-menopause, indeed ! Nine months after that (!) through another blood test, the gyne. announced to me that I am Menopaused. :) . That was two months ago - I am 43 (three months shy of turning 44).

I think we know. I seriously think we feel it somehow.I realized that the symptoms I had may have been 100 other things, but somehow, I was praying for it to be the change and not anything more serious.Things just felt drastically different, and I had a feeling it was the change.

The gynecologist who refused to test me said that she doesn't test for it until yo skip six periods in a row. The gynecologist who I've had almost a year now said by all means, we must examine all possibilities.

Please post here about any results after your exam and also let us know about your concerns.

Oh, I forgot ~ this may mean something to you or maybe not...From the time I feel I began peri-menopause till the bad symptoms, I was developing weird cysts-under my arms and near the groin-where the lymph nodes are. They were one at a time, but I would run to the dermatologist and they were said to be "nothing" "harmless" and I was advised to keep getting mammograms every year just in case.

Testosterone causes acne and, with me, because I stopped breaking out, my testosterone level must have dropped tremendously. The progesterone change casues nausea((in some women). Many woman on birth control pils either break out or stop breaking out.

40 is definately not to young to start noticing perimenopause symptoms. Go ahead and mention all this to the doc and ask for blood work to confirm this when you see him. Just remember that as you start this process be sure you are getting enough calcium via diet and supplement to help prevent bone loss which can lead to osteoporosis.

MrsKramden, I noticed in your post above you saying you had cysts under your arms, and in your groin area. I was in my gyno's office last month asking him what the lump could be under my arm. He also said not to worry, (boy I sure get sick of hearing that statement), but when I read what you wrote it sure helped ease my concern about my lump. It is just small, but is in my node area. I'm 45, and they wouldn't test me for perimenopause at all. He just acted like he didn't know what I was talking about when I asked him. Sometimes, all of this can sure be confusing! Thanks again for your post.

will[/u] test for peri. The first cyst I got under my armpit was tended to by a REALLY GREAT dermotologist. She injected something into it (it was small, by the way) and it went away the next day.

The next one I got (just one, again) that great derm. didn't take my insurance anymore so I went to this guy in her same office. He refused to inject it and said just make sure you get yearly mammograms every year. Now, what he did tell me was that since they were by the nodes, it was probably something happening because fluids drain through the nodes and maybe something caused a cyst.

Got a third pit cyst and just let it go away on it's own.

I hate to say it, but I got one that recurred on my (how can I say this ?) triangle -LOL ! Near the groin.I took care of it the first time. It came back and my gynecologist lanced and biopsied it !It was fine.It seemed like a very large acne pimple. I do not get many colds and do not have allergies so I wasn't sure what was "draining".Could just be like an adbvanced acne pimple.Thank God they weren't dermoid because I hear that dermoids hurt.

Hi MrsKramden,
Thank you for all of the information about the cysts. I really appreciate you replying so soon. I am going to ask my Dr.(my primary care physician) to test me for peri. I think it would answer a lot of my questions by knowing if I'm really in it. Have a great day! :-)
