Hello Ya All, I am wondering if burning sensations on the skin in various places are a sign of menopause? I have some burning in different areas like my chest and arms. Not the flushes type burning. Also can someone tell me if you experience PMS symptoms and burning pain in both breasts? I have been having difficulty sleeping for more then 4 to 6 hours a night. I usually wake up frequently and feel thirsty. I am also sweating in the area of my neck and breasts while I sleep. My hair is thinning and dry as is my skin. I am still having periods but the last two are coming every 25 days instead of 27 or 28 days. I am also ovulating on day 12 instead of day 14. I can always tell when I ovulate because I get the pain in the side. I am 46 years old. Does anyone have these same symptoms? Look forward to hearing from you! minnakitty

Greetings to you,
This is just a thought, but, during perimenopause many hormones are imbalanced. Your hair loss and some of the skin sensations, may be indicative of lower hormone levels. Has any one recently ordered serum hormone levels. Perhaps your thyroid is underactive. Are you also experiencing fatigue and unexplained weight gain? Mary Shoman has an excellent site on thyroid, which you can find by doing a google search. Good luck to you!

Hi Sunny3, Thanks for responding to my post and for the advice. I am hypothyroid and have been on 0.1mgs of Synthroid for about 6 years now. I haven't had my blood checked in about a year and 4 months. I haven't found a doctor here yet either. The synthroid dosn't seem to do too much for me. My hair and skin are too dry and my hair goes thru cycles of thinning. My nails are brittle and I have trouble loosing weight. Last month I experienced burning pain in both breasts. I thought that this might be hormonal. I will be seeing a midwife for a breast and pap exam on the 4th of June,so maybe she might have some answers for me. I thought I'd also mention that along with Hypothyroidism I also have Fibrocystic Breasts,Edometriosis,Gerd and a Hiatal Hernia. Thanks again Sunny3! minnakitty

I have also experienced the burning sensation in the arms and chest......ALSO, I am hypothyroid and in the throes of perimenopause. Welcome to the club!

I first experienced the burning about 4 months ago. At first, it was almost unbearable. It was everyday and sometimes most of the day. It has gradually gotten better although I still experience it from time to time.

Now, my main symptom seems to be extreme fatigue. This menopause business is definitely an education and one that I really didn't want a degree in! LOL

Best wishes and know that you are not alone!

Hello again Minnakitty,
How are you doing? I do not check this board regularly and I was wondering if your MD appt. was helpful to you. I've been reading more and more about salive tests for hormone deficiencies and then natural bioidentical replacements. I have just ordered some saliva tests and am waiting to see what I learn.. i know being menopausal that my estrogen is way down, but I do not know about the other levels. I suspect my cortisol is off, since I am feeling fatigued, with no reason, other than menopause.
Best of luck to you,
Sunny

I, too, have experienced burning pain in both breasts. I am 40, and had a total hysterectomy 2 yrs ago. I am taking hormones, and have been for 2 yrs. The burning pain started in one breast about 4 months ago, and has now moved into both breasts.
My gyno doesn't have any idea how to treat this. I am trying to do some research on my own.
This pain is very worrisome. It does wake me up at night. I just don't know where to turn next.

Owwwwwwh Lambie Pie, that's got to hurt and it is so awkward to try to talk to a doctor about. I am still trying to figure out my own burning feet as I wait for lab results. I found in Christian Northrup's Book The Wisdom Of Menopause, an interesting statment on pg. 279. " The entire nervous system is surrounded with estrogen-sensitive cells." If we are so deficient in estrogen, it's no small wonder that our nerves are sending us signals that they are starved. Hopefully, the answer lies in supplementing with the right type of estrogen and in the correct doseage for our bodies. We all wish you luck. Please let us know what you are finding to be helpful.
Sunny
