I am a 48 year old woman that is pre menopausal but I just don't believe that the pain I am experiencing is "woman" related. I am hoping that someone will recognize the symtoms and tell me that it is a common symtom of pre menopaus and not cancer. I have been experiencing gnawing/stabbing abdominal pain just below my navel (for about two weeks) and sometimes the pain wraps around to my back. The pain in my back is remonisant of severe menstral cramps but the abdominal pain is different. The pain comes and goes and the intensity varies. I am getting more nauseous as each day passes but I haven't thrown up yet. I am eating, but nausea never did stop me from smoking or eating LOL. I never have paid much attention to my BM but I may have gone a couple days where I just passed "a little." Yesterday everything opened up and I had 4 good normal BM's which demanded immediate attention. I never have been much into examining what I did, but I am on the look out for blood which I may or may not have found. (we all know what goes in must come out, so it just may be something I ate).

I have no health insurance and no money to go to the doctor to get test. I am hoping to hear someone tell me that this is something that will just go away on it's own. If everyone tells me that I have to go to the doctors, well I guess where there is a will there is a way.

May I be the first to say, GO TO THE DOCTOR?! This could be a number of things that only a doctor can diagnose. If you see blood or if your bowels are black, you especially need to go to the Dr. right away.

Just my humble opinion.

How do you feel since you had the bowel movements? Did that relieve the pain and nausea any at all? Constipation and digestive disorders can cause all the symptoms you mention, so I would suggest that you start trying to get more fiber into your system so you will have regular daily bowel movements. You can try Metamucil, or dried prunes (which I prefer, they work very well for me and don't cause any of the bloating that Metamucil can cause). Eating yogurt every day will also help your digestive system, and you might want to take some probiotic supplements. And of course, try to eat more vegetables and fruits, and drink lots of water everyday. If this is being caused by constipation, you should see a real improvement within a couple of weeks.

Your symptoms could be caused by any number of things though, so it's really hard for anyone to be able to tell you what the problem is. It could be fibroids or a cyst causing the abdominal pain. (I was actually having symptoms very similar to yours, and found out that I have uterine fibroids which are causing the abdominal pain. Digestive problems were causing constipation and nausea, which have improved greatly since I made some changes to my diet.) I'm sorry to hear that you don't have insurance, that makes it so difficult for you. Perhaps you can find a public clinic or hospital in your area.

If you have no money and no insurance the Health Department may be able to help you. Another thing to think about is the County Hospital in your area, they must see everyone even if they don't have insurance and will make a payment plan.

I have a few thoughts on what could be wrong, but would encourage you to seek professional help. The blood in the stool could be something as simple as a bleeding internal hemorrhiod. Your pain could be fibroid tumors in your uterus or endrometriosis. All of these things should be checked by a doctor, I know not having insurance is a real set back, but maybe you could call your doctor and explain that you don't have the money now and he could set up a payment plan.

Oh, by the way passing gas and or bowel movements have no effect or relive of the pain. My stool is not black, in fact it is more chalkie than anything else. I have kinda ruled out peptic ulser because symtoms are pain at or above the navel. Mine is just below the navel depending on my position (pelvic if standing). I also went out and had a couple drinks tonight to try to forget about my troubles... I was nausious and in pain but the first beer helped me get over it, sooooooooooooooooo I figure peptic ulser is definately out! I was hoping that menapause had something to do with the pain........ I have just removed my shirt WHEW!!!!!!!! Don't you just hate the sweats!

I would like to tell everyone that I did apply for Medicaid or any type of medical care that the state or government could provide. I was turned down because I attempt to work and make money (which is or course taxed) which disallows me from reaping any benefits. I went into the social service department to apply for assistance but was turned down because I was making more than $150. a week. I turned around and saw what MY TAXES were paying for! Not one person in the office spoke a word of English! I am entitled to pay taxes but not to benefit from any government programs!

Hi,

Go to the emergency room at any hospital and have an ultrasound done on the gallbladder, that is what it sounds like and they cannot deny you treatment. Let us know....~Kec~
