Has anyone noticed an increase in urinary tract problems that may be associated with perimenopause? In the past several months I have noticed not only an increase in frequency in urination but also what seems like an increase in urgency to urinate in what feels like a new infection every other month. Usually, I can take Uristat for a couple of doses and the feeling diminishes. I have had only one or two infections in the past but now they seem to have become a common occurrence. I have read that this problem can occur with peri, however I was wondering how common this complaint was. Thank you.

Twanger,
Yes I have noticed increased problems since I entered into menopause. Now I am scheduled for surgery to get the sling put on my bladder. I suffer from many infections, cystitis, and incontinence. Hope this helps.

i am pretty sure uti's are very common in post menopausal women ...so i wouldnt be surprised if it was the same in peri..but if you havent already why not go to a urologist about the problem..just make sure that there is nothing else going on ...if the frequency is really bothering you he might be able to recommend something like detrol which is used for overactive bladders.........good luck
