Hi,
My girlfriend was told when she was on the BC pill that it was causing her high blood pressure and she could no longer take them. Also, a lot women who are pregnant get high blood pressure which could be caused from the change in hormones. Regardless, of the reason you need to take the doctor's advice and get the pressure down. If it is from M, he can see if you can go off the meds later. Please take care of yourself.

It might be a good idea to look at your diet. Eliminate processed foods, as many of them have hidden salt. So watch the sodium intake. Also take magnesium it reduces blood pressure and be sure you are getting enough potassium(you can get that from bananas). Try those 3 things and it should help. If those changes in your diet don't, then you may have to look at other options.Good Luck, and Good Health!

Do you have a family history of high blood pressure? I have high blood pressure but so does everyone in my family. I don't know if perimenopause can cause it but if the doctor thinks you need to be on medication go on it or get a second opinion. Going on medication is better than the alternative of untreated high blood pressure.

Thank you all very much for the replies and no as a matter of fact have always had rather low blood pressur I truly think what happened was either what is called white coat high blood pressure (from being at the DRs office) or I was really worked up and had made my mind up that the Dr was either going to listento me or I was going to go Menapausal or is that postal!
Anyway he ordered all the hormone tests and some others
I had my boss bring her BP monitor to work and every since I've calmed down it has been alot lower. Thanks for all the words of wisdom from all at this web site sure proved to me I had to take control or this was going to continue and I have felt perimenapausal symptoms for 2-3 years

I have the white coat syndrom. Because of this my blood pressure was always a lot higher and I told him about it so he had me bring in my blood pressure monitor. Since it was the same as his readings he said it was accurate so he didn't change my medications.
