Question: What's the meanest, most thoughtless, thing that someone has said to you lately that relates to our "time of life"?
Let's share our stories; it might make us feel better and we can get a laugh out of how sensitive we've become.
Sister in Law's Story:
My brother is married to one of the best singers I've ever heard. She put off her career until the boys grew up. Now it's restarted. She told me through tears last week, that my brother nicknamed their new group, THE MENOPAUSAL FOUR. She was so hurt.
My Story:
My younger brother has a 19 year old GF. He brought her over to our house and while looking through photos she exclaimed: "My, you were so beautiful when you were young." My husband looked at her and said "And, she still is. Too bad you'll never be." I was mortified that'd he'd been so mean, but you know what now I think it is funny.

Hey Serenity, so far no one has insulted me too much, but I better be careful, it may be just around the bend.
The other day I was taking my great-niece somewhere, we were on a two lane road and the car in front of me was going 35 in a 55 - I was SO irritated. When we passed her I looked and said "she is just an old lady", the niece heard me and asked "are you an old lady?" I told her no, I am just a medium lady.

During the time my symptoms were the most severe, I finally had to explain what was going on to the male co-worker that I traveled with all the time. I have an extremely technical job, and have peoples lives in my hands. He said "maybe you should take a leave of absence until it is over"! My reply was "Oh great, you're going to pay me sick leave for 10 years of absence for menopause?" That would probably go down in the history books!

That is too funny. What a great example of an uninformed male!

Two of my daughters are RN's. At the peak of this madness I started having some chest and arm pain. Well they called a cardio., who went immed. to hospital, they rushed me in the car and took me in immed. to ER. Dr. did an angiogram only to tell them my heart was in perfect condition.
To my horror, I overheard one of my daughter tell the doctor I had been very "nervous" and always bent out of shape for past few years! Never taking into consideration with their knowledge of medicine I was in full-blown menapause. Odd that I only displayed this behavior at home and Never at work.
I've refused to take anitdepressants or any other med. other than Premarin, which I stopped taking 2 yrs. ago. Doing fairly well considering it's not over, and I have a very fluctuating thyroid.

Lulu,
Good for you; sounds like you have everything under control. Don't you think it's when the comments come from our closest friends or family that it hurts the most? It must have been scary having to go to the hospital. Thanks for sharing; it helped.
