8 months ago I went to a naturalpath because I couldn't figure out why I was tired, sweating at night, gaining weight, irritable, etc. I'm 46 years old, she did a blood & saliva test and informed me that I was perimenapausal. My progesterone, testosterone, estrogen, & adrenals were in the pitts. She put me a natural progesterone & testosterone cream that I have to get from a holoistic pharmacy. I also take DHEA and a digestive enzyme. The entire process was expensive since my health insurance didn't (and still doesn't) cover any of this but it has been worth every penny spent. The progesterone cream is a miracle worker, within 2 days on it I feel normal again, the excess weight just drops off, I don't sweat at night, and on and on. My periods are still a little wacko but nothing to complain about. I have to cycle the progesterone cream, within 24-48 hours of not taking it all the symptoms are back full force. I'm off it 10-12 days. Is there anything natural I can do for that "off" time that will make me feel even halfway normal? I exercise a lot (weights & cardio), eat healthy-high protein/low carb, no sugar, don't drink or smoke. I'm afraid to think about how much worse the symptoms would be if I didn't do those things. When I'm not using the cream, I'll carry 5-8 pounds of excess in the belly, hips, upper thigh area. I now have 2 sets of clothes in my wardrobe one for the good days and one for the bad days. I have an appointment to see the naturalpath in a week but looking for some tips that might help from other womens experiences.

Ask your naturopath if you can use progesterone cream for a longer time each month. I just bought Dr. John Lee's book "What your doctor may not tell you about premenopause" (whew, long title), and he says you can actually use it from day 8 to day 30, depending on your individual needs.

It seems to be helping me too. :)
