Hi. About three weeks ago my mom found a lump on her neck/shoulder. in the open space by her collar bone. She went to the dr who sent her for an ultrasound. After the ultrasound they sent he for an MRI. She then went in and talked to the dr last week, who said that he was concerned because of the density of the masses (3 were found) and because of the rate of growth. When we discovered the lump it was about quarter size today it is about the size of a golf ball, (no painfull) so she is set to go in for a byopsy on Monday. I would like to realistic about this and at the same time i am scared to death. Has anyone been here, can you tell me what the likely hood is that it is lymphoma as the dr suspects. We got the good old "hope for the best prepare for the worst" speech. Any thoughts would be great! thanx

So sorry to hear you are worried and stressed. I'm going through the same thing right now with a family member. We are still waiting a diagnosis but I can tell you what I've been told. Our surgical oncologist said the lymph nodes in the neck, chest or under the arm usually always give you a definitive diagnosis - which is a good thing because you know how to proceed. If it isn't, then you know and if it is there are so many more treatment options today then just 5 years ago. So don't panic. I'm learning it doesn't do any good! Hang in there and keep us posted.

Thank you so much for your thoughts. We pretty much were told today its lymphoma, they sent the lymphnode off for more testing to find out what kind. The other two bumps are also lymphnodes. :( I will keep you and your family in my prayers and thank you for leting me know I am not alone. We hear more on Thursday will keep you posted
