Hi everyone,

Would like to know what you gals are doing for osteoporosis. I do not
want to take Fosamax or anything in that line. I have been taking Vit K,
progesterone (natural), Miacalcin, calcium. On my last dexo my hip had
improved 5% but the lower spine stayed the same. That was after 2 yrs.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Any of you ever hear of Ipriflavone? That's what my homeopathic recommended but I never took it.

Hi everyone,
Any of you ever hear of Ipriflavone? That's what my homeopathic recommended but I never took it.

I've taken it in the past but have recently heard that in some people it has led to a significant drop in lymphocytes.

Some of us on this board are taking Strontium, which you might look into, and my calcium choice is Ezorb.

All the best

Jen

Hi jodianne...i also take strontium and have had good results with it. Are you doing both weight bearing exercises and weight training? Supplements and exercise go hand in hand to help improve density. There are plenty of osteo sites that can give you good info on what kinds of exercises to do. Or better yet..talk to a personal trainer experienced with osteo, a physical therapist or even your dr.

I've never tried ipriflavone...in additon to strontium i take a multivitamin, calcium, vit. D, magnesium and fish oil. there are so many things that say they can help with bone density that all we can do is wade thru it all and decide which ones we think will work best for us as individuals. take care..phyllis

I guess I should have said I never took the Ipriflavone on a reg basis. Took it now
and again because in the back of my mind I was concerned about the possible drop
in lymphocytes. Now the homeopath has recommended it again.

I asked about strontium and he gave me a calcium/mineral supplement that only had
600 mcg of strontium in it. May I ask what strengh your strontium is and is it just strontium?

Thanks for the info. I do what I can on the exercising. I have neck and back problems
and so I am limited. I do walk, do leg exercises, bike, stretching and occasionally
wts w/ my arms. Doc gave me a simple exercise-rock up on the balls of your feet and
then down and even that gave me bad lower backache and it was such a simple thing.

Jodianne,

I take NSI Strontium Citrate 680 mg. I take it in the evening. I think Phyllis and some others here also take this brand.

Jen

PS: Yes, it is just Strontium

Hi jodianne...i do take NSI Strontium and the dose is 680mg., taken together in a 2 cap dose at bedtime. I don't know why your dr. recommended a supplement that contains both strontium and calcium. They should be taken separately with several hours in between since if taken together they compete for absorption. take care..phyllis

Thank you Jen and Phylwill. I don't go back to the doc until Jan and
then I will have to discuss the strontium and the combination he gave
me.

Thanks again for your time and interest.

I have been taking the strontium since January and doing weights . I went off of Forteo and on Monday will take a bone density test. Will let you all know what the results are, I know it will be good. I have stopped the strontium for about four weeks so it should not interfer with the test results. Please don't wait till January to take the strontium without calcium. Maybe you could just call your Doc and ask him, it really does work.
Best of Luck.
