I am 18 years old and I have never had sex so I am sure it's not an STD but on my inner Thigh right next to where my leg meets my hip I have this itchy rash that looks similar to bad mosquito bites or poison ivy, it isn't too red unless I scratch it but occassionally it emits a horrid odor and I just want it gone, i have tried anti-bacterial cream and gold bond medicated powder, and I have no idea what it is or how to get rid of it....any help you can offer would be great, thanks

Poor little fella... you have jock itch. Get some ketoconazole or tolnaftate cream from your local drug store... Tinactin tolnaftate spray with talcum powder also works wonders, but it burns like hell.

A diet too rich in sugars, tight clothing, excessive sweating, and even using a public restroom or sharing a bar of soap can lead to jock itch. If the tolnaftate cream doesn't get rid of it in two weeks, see a doctor (because there's no way for me to be sure what it is, but it really sounds like jock itch). While you're trying to get rid of it, cut back on your sugar/carbohydrate intake and change bath towels every day. Try to wear loose-fitting clothing. And, perhaps most important of all, and definitely the most irritating of all, do not scratch it. Tinea cruris (jock itch) can spread to other parts of the body, so wash your hands and scrub under your fingernails. Ever had ringworm or athlete's foot? Basically the same fungus. Even after the symptoms disappear, keep on using the medicine. I'd say use it for a week after the symptoms disappear.

Hope that helps,
Joe

alright well thanks for the advice.....damnit the sugary and carbohydraty foods are my favorites .....espicially when you combine them.....like a nice doughnut . Oh well I already wear baggy clothes so i think i am all set there but I am already starting to see some progress and it's not really itchy at all anymore so thats good....thanks again.

Hi, I am another person, and that sounds like the same stuff im going through....except my rash is on my penis and itches really bad on my inner thighs and my buttocks. This has been going on for like 3 weeks now and I havent had sex in over a year so i doubt also that its an STD. It itches really bad, but you cant see it anywhere except my crotch. My buttocks and inner thighs are what itch the most though. I have no clue what it is because ive been through the whole poison ivy stuff and its not that...so if you could help me out. that would be great.

i am 18 years old. and my friends said they are starting to itch on their thighs too. help me.

I was wondering....I am a female and at one time my husband had some type of fungus on his foot. He finally got rid of it, but ever since then, every summer I get this same type of rash either under my breasts, or on my inner thigh or other odd places. It seems to be where I sweat. Is this jock itch? I didn't know a woman could get that and if so, in places like I mentioned. I use Lotramin or Hydrocortizone and it gets rid of it fast. I noticed that if I don't continue using it for a week afterwards it tries to come back.

The best way to get rid of what is commenly called jock itch is to go to the doctor and show it to him. The doctor should take a scraping of the area and RX the right cream for it.

I have had it and it is hard to get rid of take over a month of treatment. It will go away in a week or so BUT if you stop treating it , it comes back.

You can get it any where you have skin on skin contract. So under your breasts is the same thing.
OTC creams may work but after you buy $40 or$50 worth if stuff you may still end up at the doctors for RX. My understanding is there are differant funguses and you need the right med. to put on it to kill it.

I have the same thing right now.. it goes down half my leg toward my knee. It definitely looks like spider bites or something, I have a new one on my arm to day, and some red blotchy marks on my chest. What is this?

mmm i got the same thing. i thought it was something serious so i didnt tell my parents. though now i know what it is. it is just demontitis. excessive sweating and not drying urself enough after showering should be the problem. try getting some demontitis cream and rub it it on the rash. mine is slowly going.

Heh, I have the same thing, except it's on both sides of my inner thigh, like right beside my testicles. It itches moderately, but I try not to itch it.

I believe what caused it was my shorts rubbing against my skin area there until it formed a rash I guess. (Is that possible?) I have the will power not to itch it though, I know how scratching spreads rashes and all.

I plan to wait a week and see if it progresses though.

Ah, something caught my eye, how Maniak said that excessive sweating and not drying yourself thoroughly after taking a shower may cause it... I am also on a Swim Team, and I swim three times a weak, perhaps I may have demontitus... hm... maybe I should get it looked at, any suggestions?

yeh kyukee ive forgot to mention on my right thigh ive got it worse than my left thigh. ive also got a little bit above my penix under pubic hair. i never itch is unless im sleeping. when i sleep i always ich it and i cant stop!. ive had it for like a year now and just today my mum got me some cream.

its nothing to worry about man. just go by yourself to the chemist /pharmacy and get some demontitis/fungal cream. yeh my mums read if u dont dry yourself properly ur skin becomes dry or something. its the same for feet, if u dont dry them properly u could get tinea.

I used to have the same problem in football. What helps is to shower, keep dry underwear/boxers on. If it painful try to air it out like when I had the problem I sleeped in some really large boxers and applyed baby powder. The rash could be from thighs rubbing aswell

Heh, mine is going away now. What I do is take a bar of soap, soap my hands up, and I SCRUB THAT BIZNITCH LIKE I want it to catch on fire. Yeah. Anyway, once it's all foamy, I wash the soap off, but I always dry it REALLY good when I get out of the shower. Heh, works like a charm, and I didn't even have to use any medication. Now I just have to get rid of this damn sore throat...
