I am a model and cant get my face out of the mirror, every day i have people tell me how gorgeous i am and i just want to cry. I dont like anything about me and i have close to fifteen wanted suries in mind, i feel so awful, i want to perfect everything about me and i cant, sometimes i dont even want to live anymore, i obsess over everything on my body, it takes me three hours to get ready in the morning and then two hours for bed and then about two dozen times during the day i freshen up and fix my hair and makeup if there is reason to, i cant possible live like this forever. any ideas of what kind of mental illness this is this time?? thanks

it sounds like some kind of OCD i guess the only way to know for sure would be to see your dr?
are you currently on any medication or seeing a counsellor at all it may help to talk things over with someone?

Your a model, cool.I want to be one but I'm too short. Anyway, someone once told me that the media is so fake.Hollywood pretends to be this picture perfect place where everyone is so thin and so gorgeous, you know. That might be why your so down on yourself because you try to live up to all the impossible standards that Hollywood makes.Feel better soo.

Your right, you can't live like this forever. You need to get counseling. That will benefit you the most. People can't make you change, you have to help yourself to change.

Hey hun!
Sounds like you might have BDD (body dysmorphic disorder) I'll post some info here for you:
Youth with body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) worry about some aspect of their appearance. They worry, for example, that they have pimples or that their skin is scarred or bumpy, their nose is too big, they are fat or too thin. Or they may think something else is wrong with how they look. When others tell them that they look fine or that the flaw they perceive is minimal (or nonexistent), youth with this disorder find it hard to believe this reassurance.
Adolescents with BDD think a lot about their perceived physical flaw, generally for at least an hour a day. Some say they're obsessed. Most find that they don't have as much control over their thoughts about the body flaw as they would like.
In addition, the appearance concern causes significant distress (for example, anxiety or depression) or it causes significant problems in functioning. Although some youth with this disorder manage to function well despite their distress, many find that their appearance concerns cause problems for them. For example, they may find it hard to concentrate on their job or schoolwork, which may suffer, and relationship problems are common.
Obsessive mirror-checking may seem normal for teens in their formative years, but BDD patients have a very distorted view of how they look, and it does not match how other youth see them. BDD can be a devastating disorder for adolescents, and it is thought to be caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain.
The severity of BDD varies. Some youth experience manageable distress and are able to function well, although not up to their potential. Others find that this disorder ruins their life.
I suffer from this, and it can be so hard sometimes. Some days I have good days, other days i don't want to get up because I feel so ugly.
Feel free to post and tell me how you feel :)-I havent found anyone on these boards suffering from BDD yet!
