I don't really know how to begin this - why am I posting on an anonymous board instead of talking to my friends and family?
Anyway without going into too many boring details I have been sick a lot this last year - GI bleeding plus lots of other symptoms. I have got to the point where I no longer, despite the advice of my doctor, want a diagnosis. I know I am terrified of what that diagnosis might be but just don't know how to deal with that fear. The logical side of me tells me not to be such an idiot but the the illogical side has taken over. What can I do - I am too ashamed to admit it to anyone - my friends think I have no worries.... I can't imagine talking about this ridiculous fear with anyone - least of all a stranger/doctor.

Sounds like general anxiety over being ill for so long. I could tell ya not to worry but you will anyway. fear of the unknown can be very powerful. I have GAD and I can't tell you anything that will set your mind at ease except get the diagnosis and you may find it wasn't worth the worry.

Thanks for your advice - but the diagnosis may not, and probably won't be, good. That certainly won't ease my worries - I just don't want to know anymore but, anyway, thanks for taking the time to reply.

If it is something serious the longer you wait the worse it may get. I've had the test done twice in the past five years. First time for bleeding, found a tear, on big deal, heeledo on its own, second time the dr. felt a lump during an exam, turned out to be nothing. Can't say your results will be the same but I didn't have to worrie myself sick over what I thought I may have. [Hope this helps] http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/blob_fire.gif
