I've suffered back and neck pain for almost half my life now (I'm 20) after a playground accident as a child. Recently I've been diagnosed with "one of three mental illnesses" (OCD, Schizophrenia, or a Psychosis, they're not sure yet) and have been put on prozac, geodon and ambein.
My question is, since prozac prevents the reuptake of seritonin in the brain, will it do the same in the spinal column(where seritonin is also found) and help my back pain? I was sitting in life principles class when this thought came and figured I'd ask. This seemed like the approprete board for my question.

I also have neck and back pain. I have had three neck injuries and have terrible neck, head and r shoulder pain. I understand your pain.
I was just wondering how you was diagnosed? My sisters and myself had to have my father committed and they tell us that they is no way to DX Bi-Polar or Parinoid/SKis. He also has has a drug and alcohol problem in the past so they are trying to blame his behavior on that. We explained to the social worker, doctor and his nurse how he does when he is straight. He gets very parinoid and thinks people are after him and against him. He was talking to a rock and was kicking trees the day before we went and got committment papers. He has told us that he has heard demons. They want him out so they can free up a bed is what they told me today! Me and my oldest sister went to see him Saturday night and he has been there since last Wed., They found no drugs or alcohol in his system when he arrived but he admitted to had been using. They lay it off on DT's.
Any info would greatly be appreciated... thanks and I will keep you in my prayers.

Sincerely,
Theresa
