I just started taking Remeron and am up to my required dosage of 30mg. I switched because Imipramine gave me constipation. I am wondering if anyone on Remeron has experienced constipation? Is so, I am not too happy about that. I am trusting my doctor to put me on something that will work. I've noticed that the world tends to turn right and left when I walk. Same symptom that put me on Imipramine in the first place. I have dreams, do not sleep very well. How long will it take Remeron to work? What kind of side effects are there besides weight gain?

I take remeron. The only side effects I've experienced are weight gain and I seem to dream more. Not sleeping was never a side effect. As a matter of fact I used to have serious sleeping problems but since I've been on the Remeron I don't.

Remeron is the type of drug that will cause you to be drowsy at first. Sometimes you have to take it for up to 4 or maybe even 6 weeks before your body adjusts to it. Then it will level out and you won't be drowsy anymore. You will be able to get a great night sleep though. Also, you are able to concentrate and remember things much better once you have adjusted to it. If you have problems with it your doctor can slowly increase the dosage amount until it is where it is right for you. Usually amounts in drugs are decreased when it's not right for you but, with this drug it is increased to adjust to your body. Be patient and trust your doctor and keep the doctor informed about anything that you feel necessary to know. Don't be afraid to call your doctor often. And, listen very well to what they have to say.
Bless you all.....

Hi - I was taking remeron and paxil at the same time and never experienced that problem. It worked well, but it took at least like 8 weeks to kick in full effect. I was taking 30mgs but, I am now decreasing it because of the weight gain issue and I want to have a baby so I am only on 7.5mg a day now of remeron and 60mgs of paxil. I took immpramine before as well and I remember becoming consitpated, but it passed after a while. Stick with it, it's a good med, but it does cause weight gain, and I experienced craving for sugar all the time. I am going to try Lexapro and see if I can lose some weight so I can get pregnant. Good luck.
