Hi, I'm 17 years old and I'm not sure what's wrong with me. I'm very stressed out and I can't concentrate, most of the time I take on a lot of responsibility b/c I think if I don't do it then no one will and in some situations this is true. But I have always taken on a lot of work b/c I like to be doing things it is just recently that I have had problems, therefore I don't believe the two are related. Lately I have also been crying for no reason. Sometimes I just become very frustrated even to the point were I am sometimes hostile and yell at people, alright not sometimes I yell a lot of the time. As for family history my mom is an alcoholic and my dad is a manic depressive. Anybody got any ideas for me?

It seems like it's just extra stress, from the info given, but with the family history (probably causing stress too) you could check with a psychiatrist to make sure... even just stress is helped with therapy and sometimes pills.

My gosh, you're only 17, and you have the responsibilities of a 40 year old! It's no wonder you're burning out! I think you need to slow down and take some time for yourself. I can see that you're a very good and responsible person--you've always been the caretaker--but it's time you start taking care of yourself. Your parents have always been sick, and I'm guessing the roles of parents-child sort of got switched around a bit and that you were taking care of them. Anyone with this much responsibility at such a young age would crack. You should be out having fun, being carefree, enjoying your youth. If you feel that your irritability, concentration difficulties, and crying spells are really interfering with your life, then go ahead and see a doctor. Make that initiative to take of yourself. You deserve it.
