I was diagnosed with depression about 6 years ago im what they call a self harmer - i recoverd for a little while in the past year i seemed to be ok made life changes began on a new path and all that stuff and stopped cutting, unfortunately in the past month or so i have dropped out of uni refuse to leave my house go into panic attacks started cutting again cut myself off from people and can see no future.
i have been on about 8 different types of antidepressants in my time none of which seemed to help in the slightest (hence why so many) i am diagnosed with insomnia as well and cant seem to find anything to control this... i see acounsellor once a week and have been doing so for three years.
i am now at a loss i dont know what to do or how to overcome this i know i did it once before but for some reason i cant figure out how.. i am now scared of myself because its becoming so uncontrolable.
if *anyone* has ANY advice please share because im so utterly scared right now.
thanks in advance.

hi
well Sal im not a doctor and i cant fully relate to what your going through...but what was it that helped you to recover the first time? And what was it that brought it all back? Maybe you should try what you have before to recover...and not take the same path that you did that led you back to your old ways. For me, it really helps to know that others are going through the same things that I am...do you know anyone like that?
well i hope that was a little bit of help...i really hope things get better for you.

Sal,
you've tried 8 diff. antidepressants & none
worked? Ever try a tranquilzer like Klonopin
or Buspar? I've heard Trazedone and/or Ambien also
work well.
Good luck

have you recently changed eating habits or your diet? in any way at all, small or big?
things like cafeine intake can and do paly a big part in how we feel mentally, also, as we get older, our bodies deplete themselves out of our natural stores of vitamins and other essential nutrients and minerals.
have you recently gained weight or lost weight? weight flucuation can trigger an imbalance in your system as well.
I would seriously look at adding a multivitamin and doing some research on the subject of dietry supplements. If you were able to go from depression, to a relatively happy existance back to depression and dispair and cannot find any obvious or "in your face" triggers for this happening, you need to dig deeper and perhaps nutrtion may be the way to go. I am not sugesting that you lose weight or go on a special diet, but supplementing your existing diet may be just the thing to ensure a proper chemical balance in your system.
take care and the best of luck
peace

you know you're right on the mark.... i have stopped eating due to taking diet pills (which btw cause depression) i only just found this out after doing some research on it yesterday... unfortunately i need to lose weight rather badly so am going to stick to them as can only be on them for three months anyway ...am feeling a bit happier now.. plus having a reason for it helps.
i think maybe my body just needed to get used to them
thanks so much!!
