feeling disconnected from the world can be a symptom of a long list of mental disorders so you should really look into seeing a psychologist.
Getting nervous around people is a symptom of social anxiety which is basically just what it sounds like: u get really anxious in social situations. You can get shaky, your heart races, your hands sweat, your ears can ring, your vision can become like tunnel vision or blurred, chest pains, stomach aches, headaches, dizziness, feeling faint, chills or hot flashes, etc. Those are also all symptoms of Panic Attacks.
Anxiety really sux and it can really affect your social life, but it can be treated fairly easily with medication. Just dont take paxil- cuz i was on that and it was complete hell- check out my post: paxil petition.
Good Luck!

The social anxiety can be a symptom of something deeper, like schitzo or bi polar, but I will not say you have one of those =b.
Go see a doctor, if you can get help now its a good idea. I am never a fan of anti depressents either, so make sure if thats what they want to give you, they know for sure that your problem is depression and not mentall illnesses (besides depression =b).
