Hey, I was wondering how I find out if I could possibly have SAD (Social Anxiety Disorder) What kind of doctor do I see? How do I find the right doctor? What do I ask? Is it expensive? I really want to know, so maybe I can get help for it if I do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Most medical insurance companies have a separate process for mental health coverage.
You might need to start with your G.P. and be given a "referral" to a specialist.
Or, sometimes your insurance booklet will instruct you to call a special phone number which will give you the doctors in your area that are covered by your particular plan.
Seasonal Affective Disorder is also called S.A.D., so be sure to say the whole thing at first when setting up appts...

You may want to look into Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). It is the most effective treatment for a variety of anxiety disorders and requires no expensive meds. It also works remarkably fast for most people. My favorite introductory book on the subject is "Been There, Done That? Do this!" by Sam Obitz. Many cities have free CBT based support groups as well. Good luck!

Just go and talk with your primary "First". He'd be the best to help you on your way. It's what I did.
