I am 24 and in great health. I recently had a period of blindness in one eye that only lasted 3-5 min. Had two seperate MRIs done as well as an MRA. The MRA is normal, the MRIs both came back with one small lesion. I spoke with a neurologist who said I have normal neuro responses. He refered me to a neuro-opthamoogist. Im also going to be tested for Lyme disease. Has anyone else ever had these symptoms? My neurologist said that he cant call it MS since the blindness only happened once and wasnt like the classic blindness. He wants to see me in 6 months and repeat the MRI in 1 year.

Hello, I do not have MS, but mother does. She was dx 3 years ago. She's a fighter. Thats how it started with my mom. She was outside working on a rock garden when suddenly her right eye went black. Her face was slurred a little bit. We thought she had a stroke. It was several months later that she was dx. If you would lke to chat my e-mail is-cjs38583@webtv.net
Best of luck to you.....

I was reading about your symptoms. Three years ago, I was fixing my rock garden and bent over, and got a busting headache.Next thing I knew I could not see out of my right eye. It went completely black. I went to my doctor and he told me it was migraines, he give me motrin and sent me home. Nine months later I still could not see out of it.I finally got in to see a neurologist. He
done two MRI, one MRA and a spinal tap. All of them came back MS. One other symptom was I fell alot. Not just trip over stuff, just bestanding and fall.So you are not alone. I will tell you what has helped me out alot. My Grandmother told me a long time ago: God will not put more on you than you can't handle. I say that to myself everyday, and it really helps.
I hope this helps you a little.

I recently went to the neuroopthamologist. he said that I didnt have any clear signs of optic neuritis from the initial incident. I pray every day that God will pass me over with this problem. I feel great, but occasionally have headaches, which I dont know what causes them... They usually go away in an hour or so. Nothing like a migraine. Until then, my neurologist says to see him again in 6 months

I hope and pray you don't have MS too.
I only went to a regular opthamoligist and he found smething wrong right off.But my neurologist says sometimes it doesn't show up for years.I've been having a spell for about three weeks now' this is the longest one i have had so far.So this is my second dose of steroids. my family doctor is trying to keep me off the IV's as long as possible because I've had to take so many. He said it really effects your bones, and makes them brittle. But hopefully after this dose of the predisone pills it will be over for a while.
But yours sounds like good news so far.I'll keep praying that it stays that way for you.

Thank you for your prayers. Im going to schedule a consult with my neurologist to see if I should have a spinal tap done. A friend of mine asked me if I was scared to know the truth about possibly having MS. I told him no. im scared of the pain from the spinal tap, but Im not afraid of the truth, since its not in my hands. God will watch over me. Its just a shame that they dont doe regular MRIs on kids to get a baseline. For all I know this could have been with me all the time.

I just wanted to tell you, I didn't even feel my spinal.I was really nervious about it.All I felt was a little pressure. The only bad part was having to lay on my back for so long.I'm glad I had it done, because the doctor ruled out alot of other things that could have been wrong. He tested me for rhumatic fever, lyme disease and spinal miningitious. There is so many things they can tell by doing spinals.
I really don't know if they could tell if a person has MS when their a kid or not.The MS could lay dormant for years. We may never know what the cause is.But hopefully with more research they can maybe someday find out.
But you hang in there, you sound like a very strong willed person and with God by your side you'll do just fine.Often I look around and see someone in a whole lot worser shape than me,and thank my lucky stars. Take care!

I have to love doctors.... The opthamologist didnt send a report to my neuro or my regular MD. Now I have to wait even more time to talk with my neuro about a spinal tap. Life goes on and so do I

I known exactly what your going through.
It seems like you fall through the cracks some how. But I've come to learn patience is a virtue.Doctors are only human, and if one goofs up down the line it all goes haywire.I have to have liver function tests done every month because of the chemo I take.I've been having them done since September of last year, well thats the only test result my doctor has recieved from the hospital since.Even when the doctor tells them to send them.
Don't get to discouraged it eventually will work out.But keep in touch.Let me know how everything is.
