I'm trying to find information for a friend that plans to consume a small amount of alcohol this upcoming weekend. He is receiving daily SoluMedrol infusions for an exacerbation of MS. Does anyone have any experience with this? Is it safe? Thanks.

I suggest asking a pharmacist about the interaction between alcohol and the medication.

As a new person to this board, I read everything that was related to me. I have ON right now in my left eye. I have just finished a 7 day treatment of Solumedrol IV. I drink daily, and I had no problems...until three days before I went off the meds. I gained 20 pounds in 4 days. I thought I would die. My legs were so swollen, it was difficult to walk. My face got round like the moon, and I was miserable. So, I quit the alcohol and started drinking decaf tea. I lost 10 pounds in one night...and lots of energy. The next day and night I lost another 7. I will not do the alcohol again on Solumedrol. I have read it is safe enough as long as it is the IV kind, but alcohol and the pill form are dangerous for your stomach...something about causing ulcers, etc. Hope this will help someone someday.
