Hello-
I was wondering if MS and diastematomyelia (tethered cord syndrome, with myelin problems) are related. If there's a dr. in the house, I would http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/heart.gif LOVE http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/heart.gif to hear from you!! My uncle has MS, my aunt has Fibro, my grandmother (same side) has sciatica, and I've got arachnoiditis, diastematomyelia, DDD, sciatica, SI joint dysfunction and I'm also being checked out for MS. Needless to say, back problems have run in the family for eons!!! Oh - and I'm only 28 - it's amazing how often I'm told "you can't be in pain, you're too young." Whatever.
Anyway, I hope to hear from you!!!
Thanks a lot for your help, and Happy 4th of July!!!

A lot of diseases fall under the umbrella of autoimmune disorders, of which MS is one, as well as Fibro. I think diabetes and arthritis also fall in that same group. Unfortunately for all of them doctors don't really know what causes them or how to cure them, just how to treat the symptoms. In case no doctors respond here, a great site for MS information is www.msfacts.org. (http://www.msfacts.org.) At that site, there are two forums, one for patient to patient messages and one for patient to doctor messages. Neurologists will respond to your MS related posts. Its a cool site. Your question may even have already been asked there.
