Hi...I've been in limbo for 2.5 months, wondering if I have MS for sure. Well, this Thursday I will ~finally~ see the doctor and hopefully get some answers. Obviously he'll review the MRI I had done back in March, but what else should I expect? Do you think he'll do any tests or just ask a lot of questions? I know every doctor is different, but I was hoping some of you could give me an insight on what I should expect. I'm both anxious and afraid. I'll post again after I see the doctor. Thanks in advance! :-)

After My MRI I waited nearly 2 months before I saw the Neo......To say the least I was surpries because I was sure I had seizures.....He told me I had MS put me on Avonex..we talked some....but I wished that I had asked more questions......I see him again next month and I have now a million questions and have written them down so I won t forget......I did no new test but Im sure next month I will be doing some because certain things haven t changed for me......wish you luck.....don t give up......... :)AFA

I'm just wondering, though, if the neuro will want to do more testing or just start me on medication right away? What do most docs do, more testing or settle for possible diagnosis and suggest medication? This is all new to me, so that is why I am asking. I hate the thought of shots, I've already told hubby he has to be the one to do it for me. I hate needles! :(

When I was dxs I was started right away on Avonex a shot that I take once a week.....The only reason I feel that he would do more testing if he still not sure if its MS.....my first MRI they found leisions on my brain and the meds I take is to slow down the process of the illness.....the reason I say I might be having more test is because I have had new systoms in the last month.......I will be seeing him next month.......let me know how things went..... :)AFA

Well, my appt. was today, and doctor is pretty certain I have MS (relapsing-remitting). He wants to do more blood work and some kind of an extensive eye test, but otherwise he's pretty convinced that is what it is. He tried to stay positive for my benefit and says we'll discuss possible treatment at the next appt. He usually goes with Copaxone, doesn't recommend Avonex. I'm glad I finally have a positive DX, but afraid, too. I pray I can stay positive and hopeful. Best of luck to you and thanks for responding.

Hi Mom of two.. it is a relief to finally know what the problem has been. I am on copaxone and have been on for 5 years. geeze how time flies.....it seems just like yesterday I was scared to death of the needles.I do the shots myself and hopefully you will do them yourself too..it is not bad at all. I will give you a hint,if you squeeze the area with your thumb and pointing finger and dig your nails in, just press the needle in. It doesn't hurt at all. The pinch hurts worse than the needle. The needle is so tiny, try to do this yourself. I do it in the am. after I brush my teeth, it is all routine now.Let me know how it goes. Good luck. Stay strong and do it ;--) If you need any support email me....[removed]
