After reading various MS sites and this board, I don't think my problems sound like MS, but I would like some input from this board.
I am a healthy 37 year old male. For the last 3 months or so I have had a rubberly leg feeling in my legs when I stand up. Usually goes away after walking for a few steps or at least gets better. Don't know if I would actually call it weakness, more of a stiffness like my legs need to be streched. It is mostly in the front of my thighs and behind my knees. Walking does not pose a problem and this doesn't seem to be getting any worse. I usually walk about a mile every night and my legs are kind of tight when done (I go up some steep hills), but this goes away shortly. The last couple of days I have had some slight pain in the arch of my left foot and around both thumbs plus some pins and needles in both feet. The leg problem is in both legs at the same time. Never one and not the other. I have also felt some weakness in my arms when they are elevated (like when holding the steering wheel) and across the top of my back. But I have noticed no change in strength.
All of this comes and goes. Some days it is really irritating and others it doesn't bother me at all. Over the weekend I went and hit golf balls twice without a problem. I do have some tingling in my left hand, however my doc said it was probably the start of carpal tunnel as I type a lot everyday. Occasionally I have some tightness in my throat when swallowing, but nothing really noticable unless I am thinking about it.
My doc ran a bunch of blood tests and found nothing. Reflexes also tested well. He thinks it is stress related more than anything else. He did suggest folic acid for 6 months to see if it gets any better but told me to call if it gets any worse.
Along with MS I thought ALS, but again, the more I read I don't think that's it either. Yes, I know that you can't diagnose without futher tests, but I would really like to rule these things out. From what I read, eye problems are usually the first symptom and I don't have that. Don't have fatigue either. So....any input would be great.
