I was dx'd with ms 6 years ago. I have had severe burning in my feet. It has progressed and traveled up my legs. It feels as if my feet and legs are in a pot of boiling water. It is non-stop...every second of every day. My doctor has put me on neurontin, baclofen and pamelor. I also am on copaxone every day. Nothing is working to ease the burn. Not at all. It seems to get worse around my periods. Is anyone else having this problem? If so ...what are you on and is it helping? Please reply so I can ask my doc for a new script. Thanks and I hope you are having a smiling kind of day.

I noticed that this topic said that 35 people have read the message above but no one has responded. I am wondering if I did something wrong or if just no one has replied. Thank you.

Karen-
For some odd reason, it's possible your subject heading may not be "grabbing" attention. Perhaps you could start a brand new post with a different "headline"? (maybe even use the word "pain")

Hi Karen!

Don't worry, I often think the same thing whenever I leave a post here. I always come back to check, and I see that many have viewed it, but hardly anyone responds. I think it may be because they either don't have anything to comment on (haven't experienced it or don't know what to say) or it's not anything they can relate to?! Either way, I'm sure if someone here is experiencing the same thing as you post about, they will respond eventually. BTW, did you get my last email? Take care!

I too share your symptom at that time of the month. I have no pain or burning feet, but my hands feel even more numb. It also drains my energy level even more. I try to take B vitamins which are good for the nerves, not that it seems to be helping the numbness. I'm still waiting for an MRI as well.

What was your neurontin dose? Neurontin dosages need to be adjusted for each individual. Maybe your dose wasn't high enough. I didn't get good results from neurontin until I was taking 300mg every 6 hours. Some people even take more than that. I have constant pain/burning in my arms. Neurontin has helped alot. Still have pain but it is almost tolerable.

hi charlotte. i am glad to hear that i am not alone. i was on 800 mg 5 times a day of neurontin plus baclofen and pamelor. the burn is even getting worse. my doc told me that i probably will not be able to find anything to help stop the burn. it gets really bad around my periods. it not only is in my feet it is now traveling up my legs. but so far not as bad as my feet. i even tried the iv.. that did not work..i really pray that no one feels this burn like mine. it is getting to be untolerable. my mobility is just fine, thanks for listening everyone. i feel that i need to complain i never do but this is a good escape for me thanks again

Hi, I don't have MS, so I am by no means an expert on it. My father did have it though. He often complained about an internal burning....there was no fever with this. He found that taking an aspirin helped him. Whenever he was in the hospital and would ask for one, the nurses and doctors couldn't understand why. They would give it to him though and his burning would go away. Some dr. had told him to try this many years ago...whether it really worked or psychologically worked, I don't know...but it did.

Thanks Lynn for the response..I will try an aspirin tomorrow, I don't have aspirin at home, just Tylonol. That would be great if it helped!! I am just surprised that few have burning with their MS.

Oh, there is probably a lot of us w/ burning, me for one. My feet burn terribly and makes it painful for walking on them. The even look red in the evening. My heels burn, too, and ache like in the bone ? I have had it for some time. I also get burning spots on my arms at times that are very painful. We are to try cold paks and it scrambles the nerve sensors, I think. Sometimes, it helps, other times, they are too far gone w/ the burning. Soleil
