Hi, I was wondering why there is a seperate board for myositis and muscular dystropy. Isn't myositis a form of MD? For those of you that have been diagnosed with this, did you have ellavated CPK (Creatine Kinase)levels? Limb-Girdle runs in my family, but some doctors have said it was Polymyositis. I am being seen at MDA next week. I have alot of pain in different areas and weakness all over. Yet my CPK was normal. Very Curious, any thoughts?

My CPK was 39,000 when I was admitted to the hospital with severe muscle pain. They performed a muscle biopsy which confirmed it was Polymyositis, which is different from MD. It usually only affects the muscles closest to the trunk of the body. Hands, feet and head are never affected and there is always an elevated CPK with it. Hope this helps and hope things go well for you!
