My dear, sweet Niecsey,

I am sooooo sorry to hear that you had a panic attack. It is the most horrible feeling to experience that kind of anxiety after not having had it for a while.

I wish we were all there with you, and in a way we are, I guess, because you felt that you could come here and vent and that we would understand (which you could, and we do). Make any sense...? http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/dizzy.gif

I hope this doesn't happen to you again in the near future...actually I would rather you never had to go through it...I will be thinking of you, and sending relaxing vibes your way.

You have been such a wonderful help to so many people here, Niecsey...just seeing your name on a post makes me smile; we love you to bits, and we're here for you.

Take care sweety, and let us know how you're doing,
Chrys. :)

Hi,
I read your post about that pain and thought you were talking about me! I have had everyone suggest this and that as to why..the last one was that the adrenaline rush causes our chest wall muscles to spasm.
I cannot tell you how many times it has sent me to the e.r...only to find out my heart was fine and the doctor tells me to get the stress out of my life...

I love an answer like that. Sometimes even after the stressor is actively gone, our memories throw us a curve ball and we are sitting ducks for another attack.
But the hardest is not having had any panic attacks for a long time, and then have them start up. It's like a ball rolling downhill too once they start...all those familiar symptoms, same pattern and dread.

Personally after 30 some years of this and speaking only for myself, I don't think I will ever be free of it entirely. The recent attacks though were after several years and my agoraphobia can be somewhat predictable. Give me lots of stress and that will bring on the anxiety, which brings on the panic attacks, which brings on the agoraphobia.

Whenever I get to feeling pretty bad about this, I take a good look around at others who are serious and terminally ill....it's then I feel how fortunate I am..

The pain is about 2-3 inches below the area you are talking and even after the panic attack is over, the back pain remains much longer and then goes into ache, soreness for a few days. Have you ever used the rice socks for pain anywhere on your body? Just thought I would pass it along. Get a pair of mens tubular socks, those long narrow type and fill with uncooked rice..tie a strong knot at the top. I keep them both in the freezer. Depending on whether you need ice or heat they are great. If you want ice for a headache, just use staight out of the freeze, they are comfortable and stay very cold. For your back, just throw into the microwave to get hot. I wrap a thin towel around the hot rice sock and then lay on it. It stays very hot and actually moving around on the sock almost seems like a little massage if you can stand it.
Hope that helps...best wishes, Karima

Oh Niecsey, I'm so sorry you and the others had to go through those crappy P/A's. I've been in the ER more than once. Was positive I was having a heart attack. They hooked me up to all the gadgets...no, nothing wrong w/you, healthy as a horse....now get out of here you old cow. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/dizzy.gif (They didn't say it, but I figured they were thinkin it). When you have such severe symptoms, it almost makes you mad  for them to say, "nothings wrong w/ya." On the other hand - you're glad, but it seems so severe that it seems impossible for them to say that, and you start questioning if they know what they're doing! LOL! Ya just can't win. Nobody understands unless they've had the experience.
Hope to hear good things from you and the others soon!

Hi Niecsey

I really do know how you feel. You may not have read my post, but recently I had a "blip" or setback. Mine too came at night and it was after being off meds for about 10 weeks. I was jumping awake with panic flashes just as I was trying to fall asleep. Thats ONE of the things that happened to 1st time around. I have to say it devastated me, the next day I started getting panic waves over me (not full attacks) and another bad night. I was taken soooo much by surprise and it knocked me for six it took me 2 or 3 days to get a grip and use some self help from Dr Weekes (I know you have her books). I also looked back at what was going on at the time and yes it was my kids causing me stress as well. The worst thing about it though is that it comes at night out of the blue and you feel there is nothing that you can do about it, you are too tired to try.
I too have had that pain when I was starting to get ill and it is so awful and painful.

Just and idea, do you think that it may have been really bad indigestion? you may be jumping to conclusions, the following night may have been because you were still sore from the night before. Not everything is anxiety, just think to yourself that it could have been and the anxiety about it might just lift.

Take care
Lizzy XX

Niecsey, I am so sad that happened to you. But I must confess: it seems to me it's better in your bed than
in a car with the inlaws. I've never had one in the safety of my bed; no, mine wait until I'm at a party
or in public. That way, maybe everyone will glare at me in amazement and fright! Then talk about it all month.
I am very sorry and hope it doesn't happen again.
