I have been using proactiv for about a year and a half and it worked great up until about 2 months ago. It seems like it just stopped working. I have quit using it, but my acne is now worse since I stopped! Has anyone had the same problem? Do you think it would work again since my body has had a 2 month break from it??

it stopped working for me, and manny others as well. the infomercial says your skin wont "get immune" to it, but that doesnt seem true. Its not that its a bad product, its just not very strong if you look at the ingredients. i tried takinng a break from it and going back severala months later--still didnt work, so i went to the dermotologist and got much better stuff, which i then also became immune to...and now the endless search continues to save my skin....uhhh
welcome to the club.
proactiv worked good for a lot of people
in this board - for a while.
we all hate it now.

I think a good thing to do is to use Proactiv and when you run out, use something else for a month or two. That's what I'm doing so I won't get "immune" to it or whatever. I just started on my other stuff yesterday and already my skin's kind of gross, how sad. :(

THIS IS WHY I AM HERE. It stopped working after a years and 10 months. This was about a year ago. I am currently on acctuane ( on my 14th week) because I couldn't get it back under control. I am 100% clear now. I am introducing some proactiv cleanser back in, because I want to keep it under control this time. SO this time I will mix it up. not just use proactiv.... This was the worst year of my life. I felt like I lost 6 months of my life. And time goes by slow when you spend it in bed. I really wish I can tell you what to do now. I had to step in with the big "guns" Good luck.
I don't hate proactiv, I just felt betrayed. Like it was real.

Ok I'll just add to the list.
Used it for 4 years..I was clear as a bell. It came back and i could not get control of it, despite my attempts to stop it, and re-start it.
Had to go back to the derm to get back on my prescription stuff. I am clear but it took several months to get there.
I too don't hate proactiv.....it works for alot of people...and well. However, I bet they are doing some research into why it stops working....they know it too. If we know it, they know it.....I told them. They'll probably come out with a new improved version of it.

it works for britney spears and u know if britney endorses a product its gotta be good.lol i dont doubt that proactiv didnt work good for u guys but they want a lot of money for a toner/moisterizer/refined bp.u might as well buy a cheep moisterizer and a tube of clearisil and save some money that they have to pay britney spears for promoting this stuff.

the same thing happened to me too! i still used it in hopes that something would happen, but it didn't seem to do much except dry out my skin. i have spent so much money on skin care products because i never had acne a few years ago, so it was like a real surprise when i started breaking out a lot. now, i use clarins facial peel and this moisturizing face mask that makes my skin feel like a baby's bottom...seriously if you go to the clarins counter in a dept. store, they sometimes give free facials. they tell you to use a clear over the counter treatment gel (like clean and clear) at night along w/ the cleansers and moisturizers. i originally bought their entire regiment, but i'm too poor to do so now. the peel and the mask are great for people who get dried skin from their other treatments though. this is just my experience, but if you're desperate like i was, it might be worth a shot. they also give you tips about how often to wash your pillowcases and face towels etc.

Proactiv hasn't stopped workin for me, but it isn't what cleared my acne, Accutane did. I just use the cleanser and it controls all outbreaks and it's great for exfoliating.
