Does anyone here experience this? If feels like rain drops running down your legs or little water droplets being sprayed on your face.
I'm having neurological problems at the moment but never experienced this. :(

Renee, I feel exactly the same thing!! Prior to this, I had felt coolness in my extremities (hands and feet) which was localized and I thought, no big deal. After (stupidly) having a chriopractor adjust my neck and back, the feeling of running water began. It seems to be worse when I lie on my back without my legs being elevated. The feeling of being sprayed by rain, occurs all over my body. The sprayed by rain thing is incredibly annoying and irritating, and is at times, painful.

Mike~
When you get the result of your cervical mri please post it! I don't have another neuro appt til August. I've just about given up on my post because noone answered. It's lonely thinking you're the only one with a freaky problem.
I've had an emg/nvc due to "twitching, anxiety, and hyperthyroid) problems. The twitching is what scared me most because people with Lou Gerhig's disease have it. :( My tests were clean. But now I have the ickky water spraying me sensation. I feel like I'm at disney world with those srayers misting me. A mist here, a mist there. I keep wiping my legs or my face and there's nothing there??
My gosh, I hope the chiropracter didn't screw up your back!! I've never been to one. I've always been leary of them.
I hope your mri is clean.

I hear ya! I've been scouring the boards for two weeks or so trying to find a post with that in it! My primary care doc (*insert much angst here*) will be back by the 25th so I 'll get the results and post them then. Then, crazily enough, it's the long wait until August for me also.
One of the worst things about this whole thing is that you're always double-checking yourself. Is that feeling real or just the nerves? I wonder if there's some common nerve that regulates the way the body experiences temperature (because the rain feels cold) and something's irritating it?
Thanks for the well wishes! Hope things turn out A-ok in August for you!

I have gotten these sensations of spray. I have also all of a sudden felt as though I was standing chest deep in water. I feel the wet, cold and pressure of the water. My body is completely dry. I have also had my legs actually become instantly soaking wet, and they are soaking wet. I had every test that they know of and it boiled down to panic attack symptoms. That is not to say that you do not have some underlying condition such as thyroid causing the attacks. I also get attacks where my entire body is on fire or under electric shock. I would get tests to rule out a condition causing it and if you find nothing then try to learn to ignore it. It is irritating and scary at first, but it won't hurt you. Good luck my Friends

Ok, here's an update on my status... :)
Cervical MRI -- negative. Nothing going on there.
However, I didn't let it rest. I went ahead and got an MRI of my lumbar area, and there are some bulging discs down there, and a lesion...which sounds pretty scary to me, but at least I know what's going on. I'm slated to go in for a bonescan this coming week.
I've also found that working out does help somewhat...
How are you holding up, Renee?

Wow...that sounds freaking scary 14...I've had symptoms of panic attack as well, but strangely never before this year (racing heart esp). I'm on a beta-blocker right now, so maybe that will help also. Thanks for the input!

That's great that you found out what's causing it. I think many people have bulging discs. I've been reading up on medical information and it seems lesions are often found too. Now which one do you think is causing the "water sensation" I've never had an mri. Did the doc say anything about what he might think the lesion is? I'm thinking good thoughts for you this week with your bone scan.
Your persistence paid off :D All I get is,"it's all in my head" and if I'd relax and take these pills these strange, annoying symptoms will disappear...YEAH RIGHT!! ~sigh~
wishing the best for you!

Any updates? I have this too. It came for a few weeks, went away, now is back. It feels like a quick, fine spray of water that can happen anywhere on the body. I've had all the MRIs and bloodwork, which were fine.

WOW I thought I was dreaming when I'd feel water on my ankles and legs....
Good to know I'm not alone. Anyone get a full diagnosis of this "thing" happening. What causes it? Any concerns? I wipe my legs and nothing is there..........help!

I get this as well. I do have both motor and sensory problems in both legs, so it doesn't worry me. It does feel most peculiar though, and is made worse for me as the side where it happens is the side I wear my incontinence bag, so it causes instant panic that some horrid crisis has occurred! It seems to happen more when I'm standing still, so I wonder if it's pressure from my calliper, when I shift my weight to or from that side.
Hope this is reassuring!

I have had these sensations for a couple of months too. Mine actually started out as electrical sensations (highly localised when they happened, but could happen ANYWHERE on body, seemingly randomly). Within the last month they have changed to more of the water drop sensations, again random, localised when they did "hit" and anywhere (from my scalp to my lip, my leg, shoulder, ear, hands...
"Localised" probably isn't the best term here, one time it felt like someone had brushed a cold wet 1.5" paintbrush across my temple and ear, but besides that they have been like the size of tiny raindrops hitting me.
It feels exactly like it's just atarting to "sprinkle" on me (I still get the electric sensations sometimes as well). Sometimes they will go away for hours or days, rarely longer than that. I also have small muscle spasms/twitches, not the whole muscle, just a small part of my leg arm or face.
I had some anxiety and depression before/when this started but it has pretty well gone away. I had one doc. put me on buspirone(buspar) for anxiety, but the immediate effects were bad and I couldn't take it. Otherwise, they didn't have a clue. Just wondering if anyone has any updates/suggestions. Thank you.

Hi all!
I have these feelings as well, some times I feel like someone had sprinkled Ice cold water on my back, and some times I feel like warm water is running down my leg, I have been to the Doctor and had some test done, and they said I have peripheral neuropathy (nerve damage), but I also have a lot of other SX's, I also have a lot of pins and needles sensations in my feet and in my left elbow, and a numb toe, and a lot of other SX's, so I'm not sure if the strange sensations are related, I am seeing a Neurologist and he is wanting to do a lumbar puncture, spinal & brain MRI to rule out MS, I will keep you all posted & please do the same, we all need each other! :D
Prayers to all

:dizzy: It's good to know that I'm not just feeling things. I started with some double vision, and some numbness in my face and arm. I didn't mention it to my doc, figured he'd say I was CRAZY. Could it really be MS? Had an MRI last week, awaiting results.

I understand it can take months even years....... I go to the neurologist this afternoon to see if anything else can or will be tested for. Double vision, tingling in face, sensation of water running down leg. What in the world in wrong?!?!?!?

Hi everyone,
I just found the boards today by searching for "water dripping sensation" . I see I am not alone having these strange sensations thank goodness.
I have the "sprinkling of water droplet feeling" over my entire body. I dread having to go through all the testing etc because last year in 2005 I had a bunch of brain mri's and ct's because of a vestibular disorder that attacked my right ear.
I am not sure if that event has anything to do with the new neuropathy sensations I am dealing with a year later.
Can an inner ear disorder cause weird water like sensations to appear all over the body. Can stress play a role? I dont believe I have any weakness with the sensation. I have had balance and dizziness problems due to the inner ear disorder from last year.
My neuro didnt seem to want to do any new brain mri's at the moment because the ones from oct 2005 were normal. I felt that since this is a new thing that maybe I should have new mri's. He wanted to wait for six weeks and he felt it might be stress related. It's a definite physical feeling thats for sure.
Any feedback or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Mike

I have this sensation also, migrates to different areas. My neurologist explained it was a sensorial neuro disturbance in the nerve endings being out of whack.Like others I have MS.It appears before a flair up.I guess its my warning sign.

I still havent found out anything with regards to the neuropathy that I am having. It's been going on for over three weeks now.
I am going to be going to a neuro in a few weeks when my new insurance kicks in. My old neuro doctor mentioned about doing an eeg test which I am sure I am going to have to do when the insurance starts up
I had a ct of the brain done about a week ago(because of the cheap costs) and that came out okay.
I had the full brain MRI and CT last oct 2005 for inner ear dizziness which I am not sure is related to the weird water dripping sensations that I am now experiencing.
Last year MS was ruled out for me by 3 diferent neuros based soley on my clear brain MRI's. Not sure if that may come back into play with all my inner ear dizziness problems and now neuropathy problems.

Mike when you get your insurance see a ears nose and throat DR(ENT) they can assist if your dizziness is from the ear are lesions in the brain not detected by MRI.Test is called an ENG.I suffer from being off balance and ringing in ears my neuro sent me to ent for an evaluation.Basically checking for meneire's disease, that has been ruled out.ENG came back abnormal,a central problem meaning brain. This test showed nystagmas, problem with the eyes causing my off balance.I do have MS.MRi's don't always pick up everything.Good luck to you.Since you'll have insurance, request that several test be done to get to a proper diagnosis. It will give you a peace of mind. Not knowing is difficult

i haven't had the exact thing, but rather, feelings of wetness. like 'oh NO, did i wet my pants?' or feeling like i've spilled something on me. always waist-down, never arms or chest. unfortunately 'parasthesias' (odd sensations) are frequently an early symptom of multiple sclerosis, which i have.
my father also had these feelings of wetness with his ms.
also i'd get feelings like i was wearing a belt, or had a tight waist band, when i wasn't . weird stuff like that. creepy and sort of frightening, because people think you're crazy.
anyway, i suggest you all make appointments with a neurologist to discuss these sensations. if it IS ms, it's far better to find out now, and start taking the long term meds that will help slow down any progression or maybe stop it outright. believe me, i wish those drugs had been available when i had those symptoms...
best of luck to everyone...

UPDATE
I Hope this can help somebody, I have finally figured out what mine was caused by (sort of). I was having an episode (as described post #12 of this thread) and, just by chance I tilted my head back over my chair while pushing an my chin (I have no idea what compelled my to do this). I felt a weird grinding pop in the middle of my neck (spine), and all of the sudden they were gone! It was actually kind of scary feeling when it happened. I've had them come back a couple times and every time I do this in a certain way they immediately stop.
I've been to a chiropractor since then (a very well respected one), but he basically refused to even touch my neck after I told him.
I had even asked my doctors if this could be anything like a pinched nerve and was told "No". They said it would be in either the upper or lower part of my body and not on my head if it were. Guess they were kinda wrong...
Anyway, I understand that many of of the sufferers will not be helped by this, but I hope it can help atleast one.
Please don't go injuring your neck trying this, we may have slightly different symptoms and it may be something totally different for yourself. Do feel free to ask any questions though! I'll check back here regularly now that I've found the site again.
I've been told this could be a sign of something bad, or that it could be taken at face value and nothing to worry about. I guess only time will tell.

Hi,,,,,,,,don't want to be a party pooper...here.. I know everyone thinks this is ms sm bd fme abc and etc ...This feeling is pretty normal for some people..Some say its a lack of potassium..I convinced myself years ago its an alergy to citrus..But I asked my doctor years ago and he said it was hyperventalation..well I dont know about that.. but I do know and feel that it goes along with stress..Mine disappeared for over 10 years or so..then came back..out of the blue..im not discounting that it has something to do with posture or your spine..It showed up during that time when I was driving alot and getting in and out of the truck..After I quit citrus and also the job I didn't have it anymore for a long time..It came back and I have it at the weridest times.. I think it has something to do with stress or anxiety more than something life threatening.Believe me I would have been dead or severely cripped with some horrible disease by now if it was anything..I think its just one of those things that happens and most people don't talk about them saying ...hey do you feel ice water in your veins? Its just one of those weird sensations that happens..I hope that im right and sure don't want to discourage anyone from persuing what they are worried about ..GOD forbid..I mean I do it all the time.. but really don't feel its anything fatal..I know im paranoid and a worrier and even though I have been to a doctor about hearing my pulse in my ear..They say its one of those things you have to live with..Im like....What?Ok what else do I have to live with..Im still researching after three doctors in person and two doctors online telling me there is nothing wrong and its annoying but you have to live with it.. So there.. guess if you can find an solid answer I hope that it can be..but don't look for it to happen..Its a long standing issue with me..The ICE WATER SENSATION...

Wow, I thought this thread died. I didnt see all the new responses. I just got my insurance so I am going to check it all out.
The sensation has been more sporatic lately.. some days its not as noticeable as others.
Nuffs... I am going to get the ENG done to see if it shows anything. I know I have damage in my right ear with the constant tinnitis that I have had for one year solid now.
I will keep everyone updated... Would like to hear other peoples story.
Thanks

Westy,
Glad you have insurance now.Tinnitus has a variety of causes, avoid asprin containing meds and any product containing quinine.I do beleive that the quinine I was prescribed for muscle spasms has caused some of the bilateral tinnitus plus added to the permanant sensineural hearing loss.As far as the weird water dripping sensation or wet feeling it still lingers.I also get weird band type feeling around my waste and left bicep.I've gotten used to them.

I had some major inner ear event in sept of last year. I was rushed to the emergency room as I lost my balance and started vomiting. I didnt get classic vertigo.. my environment just tilted a bit. I also have a permanent visual disturbance called oscillopsia where things bounce when I walk. All this started last year. I used to be extremely athletic etc... but my life has now changed.
With the insurance now I can investigate as to what has happened to me. The water dripping sensation on my skin is new and apparently I need an eeg test for that.
I was told that certain types of rehab therapy may help with my oscillopsia but that the tinnitis is 24/7 permanent situation ..I have high pitched hearing loss in my right ear. This all may have been caused by a viral infection last year.
I am praying that I can get at least some part of my old life back with regards to the bouncy vision etc.
The water sensation I have no clue if its related to everything else or not

Mike,
I have bilateral hearing loss, the tinnitus has lessoned over time, thankfully.Certain things can increase it.I have INO a form of nystagmus. They beleive that comes from lesions in the brain stem.I know with the sensor-neural hearing loss I have difficulties in the dark.I hope you can get all the test and therapy you need to get this all straigtened out.

How did you get bilateral hearing loss? Has it affected your balance and if it has have they said your brain can re calibrate itself?
If someone were to look at me they cant tell anything but I basically have an almost seasickness type of feeling that is constant. I had two MRI's last year that showed nothing and one hearing test that showed high pitched hearing loss in my right ear that showed some kind of major event happened but exactly how they dont know and may never know.
I was told that intensive rehab might help me out. My neuros last year ruled MS out due to only a clear MRI but we'll have to see what some of these new tests will reveal. I have an HMO so it might be a long haul.

Mike,
I have no clue when or how I lost my hearing bilaterally.I know its a flat hearing loss in both ears about 37 percent. Its not low frequency;s or high its flat across the board.I do get off balance, not spinning or rotation, but side to side or I tip backward.I see my neuro this Thursday.I havn't seen him to discuss the eng/vng.I'm assuming it could have something to do with brain stem lesions found through the vng.The ENT wanted me to go to PT for balance but ruled it out.I wear leg braces that causes some instability.
A DX to MS or vestibular disorders are and can be a long haul just be patient.

Hi Nuffs,
I have my neuro appt tomorrow finally and so hopefully I can get all the testing done that I need.
I wanted to ask you a question getting back to the "sensation of water dropping " on your body. For you do they know the cause and did you have to do a (i think its called an eeg test?) Also can that sensation be anything dangerous. I have had it for 3 or 4 months now and its more of a nuisance than anything else. I dont recall anyone in this thread really getting to the bottom of the problem. I have read everything online from stress to medication to even certain cancers causing neuropathy.
Thanks,
Mike

Mike,
Sorry about the delay in answering.
My neuro explained that its just nerve endings and brain signals being out of whack. He said many disorders can cause this sensation and its harmless. How did your neuro appointment go?

Mike,
I have similar symptoms. Not exactly the same but similar. You can read my “story” here http://www.healthboards.com/boards/showthread.php?t=442394
My neuro thinks (but not sure) that a viral inner ear infection triggered all neurological symptoms and eventually it would go away. I’ve had a number of tests (MRIs (brain, internal audio, neck), blood tests, EMG/NCS, hearing, ENG) and they all were OK. There was a minor hearing loss in high frequency in the left ear but I was told it was due to tinnitus.
If you read the Inner Ear Disorders board you can find that the inner ear infection can cause all kind of problems and symptoms and it takes a while to get back.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.
Alex.

Hi Nuffs and Alex,
Thanks for the replies. Alex, your symptoms are very similar to mine. About a year and half ago I was rushed to the hospital when my balance went "out" on me and my environment "tilted" ..though it wasnt full spinning vertigo. I was rushed to the emergency room vomiting and the whole thing. I have never fully recovered from that episode a year and half ago. I have a thing called oscillopsia where when I walk things bounce. At first docs thought it was a viral inner ear infection because of my tinnitis that goes on 24/7. I tried different meds and nothing has resolved the tinnitis or the "bouncy vision" I had two MRI's and two Ct scans which showed nothing. One hearing test showed some high pitched frequency loss in my right ear with the tinnitis.
I got a bit of a shocker at my neuro visit a couple of weeks ago. He told me that while I did have an episode of some kind of vertigo that he thinks that the current symptoms have alot of stress related to them and he wants me to try a drug called neurontin.. a anti seizure med that supposedley helps with tinnitis and other neuro related problems. I have never had any seizures.
This neuro doc told me he didnt think that any kind of physical rehab would benefit me... My neuros that I saw last year said the opposite..so I am really confused about that now.
I definitely dont have MS he said because nothing has showed on the repeated MRI's.
I havent taken the neurontin yet so I will give that a try.

Hi Mike,
Yes, sounds similar. I’ve never had vertigo though. Just strange feeling that I had a couple of pints. I’ve seen only one neurologist but initially I also was told that it was stress related and it was a hyperventilation. I have a feeling that tinnitus will stay with me for the rest of my life but at the moment I’m more worried about neurological symptoms I have. I’ve also been referred to a cognitive-behavioural therapist to help me with my anxiety, fears and phobias. I’ve read about neurontin on several boards but I’ve never heard it is used to help with tinnitus so it’ll be interesting to see if it helps.

Hi,
I'm wondering if there has been any resolution here?
I've had these symptoms of water droplets anywhere on my body or little spray or mild sparks. No other symtoms other than anxiety.
I do have TMJ and a tight jaw/nec also.
Are these symtoms related to MS or not?
Through research it seemed that MS wouldn't present with random sensations, rather constant, sensations in particular areas that correspnd to the demylation or particular nerves. BUT then, people on this thread have siad thay have felt this and they have MS.
I'm scared, anxious and now confused?????
